Really?

Remember this is the guy who dropped this little gem in a swipe against Ms Jack on MDD:

Pahoran wrote:Also, she gave a remarkable justification for the effort that cost her so much agony: the poor, poor women that Will had so deeply hurt might be intimidated about disagreeing with anything he published in a formal venue. You see, in Ms Jack's mind, "Mormon studies" is only secondarily about Mormons; mostly, it's about the wimmin.

How ironic that the worst possible anti-Mormon slur you could make is the suggestion that Pahoran is representative of what Latter-day Saints are like.

Why do you hate Mormon men so much, Cicero?

Personally, I feel sorry for all those anti-Mormon counter-cult ministries right now. Not because I agree with their views, but because of the sense of pathos that arises when you realize that here all those people have spent so many years expending great efforts to make Mormons look like deranged members of a perverse cult, and yet cumulatively all that work cannot even hope to compete with Pahoran's single-handed, vigorous efforts to make Mormons look like deranged members of a perverse cult.

That, and the fact he's either a self-appointed Mormon jihadist (more likely) or part of a secretive, sanctioned effort like SCMC (less likely). I'm not sure which bodes better for Mormonism not looking like a perverse cult of deranged member. Retracting his claws and acting a bit charitable to others, even critics of Mormonism, would no doubt be the best thing he could do personally to help cast Mormonism in a favorable light. But it seems highly unlikely Pahoran can bring himself to do that.

I think we underestimate the reach of the SCMC and the eagerness with which the Mopologists will cooperate with it and feed it information. We know that Daniel has worked with them. We know that Mopologists collect creepy dossiers on people. My belief is that Scott Gordon's "friend"--the one to whom he forwarded information about Twede--was a non-GA member of the SCMC. Oh, sure, he did not turn in Twede's creepy dossier to a leader; he just forwarded some choice links to a "friend" in SLC. In any case the SCMC, the apologists, and their minions and lackeys all work together in an intelligence network to suppress criticism and punish those who step out of line. It is very Orwellian.

I know that the radicals on either side have figured out my identity in real life. At this point, I have built up my tolerance to such situations, and my support structure, so it is not excessively bothersome.

There have been some mentions on this board "Isabel" and Food Stamps, that indicate such, also.

An interesting third option, you paint, Kishkumen. Self-appointed jihadists investigating other members and then involving the SCMC with their 'evidence' of disloyalty. Most likely what did take place in the Twede affair.

Pahoran however doesn't proffer evidence, only assumptions and innuendo--drawing conclusions of guilt based on demographic profile information. Even the SCMC might not trifle itself and waste resources indulging his fantasies as DCP did Saturday.
