My suggestion for BOTH campaigns
The estimate is that 6 billion dollars will have been spent on this campaign. That is a grotesque amount of money, considering most of it has gone to ugly ads. I live in a swing state, and I think I'm not alone in saying:
ENOUGH
I have had ENOUGH mailers, I have heard ENOUGH TV and radio ads. Any more will just make me angry and sick.
Swing states have had ENOUGH.
But here's who hasn't had enough: the victims of hurricane Sandy.
I would like to see both campaigns meet and make a serious agreement to cease all campaigning and donate all remaining funds to Red Cross to assist hurricane Sandy victims.
Maybe that isn't even legal, I don't know. But I know that my esteem for BOTH candidates would improve vastly if they would do something like this.

We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

We live in such a cynical world that someone would find a reason to criticize them for doing it. Look at this from Andrea Mitchell:

The estimate is that Americans will spend $8billion on Halloween candy and decorations this year.
Considering the importance of who the next President is, I'm disappointed that we spend more on Halloween than on Presidential campaigns.

There are starving children in Africa who need the money more.

I trust you've sent this message to the Presiding Bishopric...

1 Timothy 5:8
"But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel."
D&C 75:28
"And again, verily I say unto you, that every man who is obliged to provide for his own family, let him provide, and he shall in nowise lose his crown; and let him labor in the church."
the children in Africa do not need food as much as they need a bus ticket to somewhere else.
Ask Obama why he ignores the atrocities in Africa that starve people and create conditions where aid can not even be offered...ask him why he is scared of China's oil interest in a region that harbors more terrorists than any other....ask Obama and David Cameron why they do nothing.....
one can easily sit on the internet and scream about all the money that could be sent to Africa's "starving children" but they are the most ignorant of screams. For decades aid has flowed into that region only to sit in ports rotting or only to line the purses of the corrupt locals. So, go ahead and pretend your "generous" offering is feeding someone far away and fuel your self-righteous attitude with the delusion that your inactivity and lack of actual "doing anything" is helping. Your passive "activism" is worse than doing nothing, because it only serves to inflate your ego.
How about shutting your mouth about what other people are doing and actually do something yourself?
A person who thinks throwing money at something is equal to "doing as Christ would do" is such an idiotic delusion that i truly fear for our own children....fear that they may be anywhere near the radius of influence from such stupidity and some of it may get on their sleeve.

I agree and the same applies to Sandy. My point was that the poor in the US are generally so much better off here.

Re: My suggestion for BOTH campaigns
beastie, I agree that campaign spending is disgusting.
We get about 6 phone calls a day and that has been going on for months.
Today I noticed that nearly every single commercial is a political ad. I would say 5 out of 6 in every break. Two in a row for each presidential candidate. (one positive and one negative)
It's soooooooo beyond annoying and wasteful.

Re: My suggestion for BOTH campaigns
I would also add that campaign money was donated for a specific purpose. I'm not sure it would be fair to the donators if the candidate gave that money away to an unrelated cause without the donator's permission.
