Wow, Elphaba: nice catch there. This is quite stunning! DCP was very proud of the fact that they had managed one new publication per week. I guess this is the week that we at last have to declare, "Epic Fail!" I think you really have to ask whether or not it's honest of them to present this as if it's brand-new material. I think that the standards of scholarly publication basically demand that they clarify this sort of thing up front.

This is getting ridiculous. I guess we can expect DCP's "Text and Context" in the next issue of MI?

Why address this question to me?

I asked whether DCP (who frequently expresses his views on BYU related matters publicly online) had publicly expressed the disappointment you now say he told you he felt at BYU's decision in the Bokovoy case. I did not ask whether there was any evidence on the basis of which his disappointment, if any, might be deduced. I asked my question on the general principle that, if there is a direct statement of someone's views somewhere, it is always better to base oneself on that rather than on hearsay about those views. But OK, we only have hearsay in this case: it is not very important anyway.

Next time someone tells us what DCP's views are, maybe he or she could use some expression such as "DCP has told me (and I am sure that he will not mind my passing this on), that he thinks that ...", just to make the situation clearer. But, as I said, none of this is very important.

That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.

Bokovoy himself has said, repeatedly, that he's not interested in doing apologetics. This is just Liz playing apologist for DCP, and trying to justify the fact that she's friends with someone who is so widely reviled.

It's true--you don't have to justify it. But, nonetheless, that's what you've been trying to do.

I haven't been trying to justify anything. But you sure want to convince everyone here that is what I am trying to do. Imagine that.

No, I think that's at least partly what you've been up to. The other half is that you've used your questions here as a pretext for picking a fight and saying abusive things. So, by all means: carry on.

You made the first move in that direction. My question was to Chap.

As far as picking fights, you struck first.

If you back down, then so will I. But don't expect me to surrender, to YOU in particular, without a fight.

I'm not sure why you are so defensive here, but whatever. I was just trying to carry on conversation. I even created a new thread so that Scratch's thread wouldn't be further derailed...not that he appreciated it.

Forget it.
