You can turn off the auto-correct yourself:

  1. Click on User CP toward the top of the screen, underneath the words "Liar!" "Heathen!"
  2. Toward the left, click on Board preferences.
  3. Underneath that, click on Edit display options.
  4. To the right, next to Enable word censoring, select No.
  5. Click Submit.

The lights have gone on! Thanks.

Jack may be right that I said something like that. I don't really remember. I have read posts by Chino Blanco/JE on message boards and blogs for, gosh, nearly a decade now. I can not conceive of a more random person to suspect being Scratch. There is nothing the two have in common whatsoever. Good God, even I am a better match for Scratch than J---- E-----.

...

I am curious who first came up with this ridiculous assertion and on what basis, because from what I know of both JE and Scratch it is absolutely ludicrous. This piques my interest purely because of its absurdist dimensions.

I agree completely with the above Blixa. Having enjoyed both JE's posts over the last few years and Scratch's here their writing style seems so different to me that I would place good money on them not being the same person. Saying that, something that shocks me more is that DCP and JE would be Facebook friends. I can't imagine them having a lot of common interests that they enjoy talking about.

I could imagine anyone seeing him as one of DCP's friends and asking "WTF is that about??"

Thanks,

Thank you, Hasa! That is why I suggested that Dan unfriend him, particularly since Dan had no idea who he was.

Liz I think you are being less than accurate here.
You didn't suggest DCP 'unfriend' him because you couldn't see why they would be friends, you suggested it because Pahoran had told you he was Scratch and you believed that.

Now, you are being less than accurate. As I have previously explained ad nauseum, yes, I did believe that there was a good chance that Pahoran was correct in what he had informed both Dan and myself involving the identity of Scratch. However, I also suggested that Dan unfriend Chino because Dan didn't know him, and there was really no really no reason for him to be on Dan's friend list.

I would also like to note that after Dan unfriended him, Chino made no attempt to send a message to Dan, and ask why he had been unfriended.

Yeah, because both people probably have hundreds of friends. It is not like Chino Blanco was the only one of Dan's friends that he didn't personally know.

Maybe so. In my opinion, no one should have friends on their Facebook with people they don't personally know, but that's just me.

Great. Well, very many people do. Especially Daniel Peterson, whose Facebook presence is an extension of his fan club. And you probably knew this when you told him to drop Chino Blanco, which indicates all the more that you bought Pahoran's theory because you mistakenly trusted his source.

And, you didn't trust any of us who might have had useful information enough to ask us whether we thought these two people might be the same individual. We could have saved all of the parties involved a lot of trouble.

Liz, my issue with your statement is that you were claiming that you suggested DCP 'unfriend' Chino simply because you thought DCP didn't know him. (Do you know which people on DCP's list of Facebook friends he does and doesn't know? If so, how do you know that?).

That is disingenuous.
The reason, and only reason you singled out Chino for this Facebook 'unfriending' attention is because of the erroneous tip off from Pahoran. Please don't try and dress it up as a good natured neighbourly suggestion. It wasn't. Unless of course you suggested DCP unfriend ALL the people you claim are on DCP's friends list you know he doesn't really know. But you didn't do that, right?

Don't get me wrong, I'm willing to let the matter rest. But if I think you are trying to mitigate it by posting something that suggests it was just a harmless friendly thing to do, then I will call you out on it.

Clearly. But it isn't that big of a deal, is it?

I only wish that Liz had asked those of us who know both Chino Blanco and Doctor Scratch whether we thought he was one and the same. We could have saved everyone a lot of trouble.
