Just because McCain was 2nd to Bush in 2000 primary was no reason to give him the 2008 nomination; just because Romney was 2nd to McCain in 2008 was not reason to give him the 2012 nomination. Just because Ryan was the loyal soldier in tonight's defeat is no reason to give him the 2016 nomination.
As long as Republicans continue to do this, they will continue to lose.
I agree. For those reasons I'd be surprised if Rubio isn't a strong contender as well. He seems less socially idealogical and more fiscally focused. And he had his "Obama Moment" at this year's Republican convention. They'll be molding him and his message over the next two years. We'll know for sure in 2014.

There are a lot of confused and disillusioned people down here in the heart land (Utah County) right now. The timing seemed right (Constitution hanging by a thread), the candidate was right (white, BIC, RM, Mormon royalty), and the support of the brethren. There was even a big fast last week for the Mitster. There was a lot of confidence going into this final day. I was catching all kinds of hell last week from my neighbors and family for the Obama sign in yard. Now they can all go suck it.

STUPID Mormon!!
STUPID REPUBLICANS for choosing him!
I'm definitely feeling that as well. Romney is getting creamed and he was the best of the bunch. You can bet in 4 years it will be Paul Ryan at the top of the ticket. We have seen the last of Mitt Romney and the Mormons for a while.
The church dodged a very big bullet today. They may not appreciate it, but a Romney win would have accelerated the church's major problems they are experiencing these days.
Mia Love lost. Is she in one of those districts where Mormons aren't in the majority, or were enough Republicans just not able to pull the lever for the black woman? Anyone know more about her district?

Bet you would pull the legs off a dog and kick a fly when it's down.
We may be simultaneously in a state of anger and mourning over this loss, but Elder Romney will return to the reigns of Bain Capital were his balance will be restored by seizing the assets and firing workers at companies yet to fail. He will eventually be made an Apostle.
