I think that the Mormon church needs to take a chill pill on masturbation. The age of easy internet pornography has arrived. I think that the Mormons can either learn to adapt to that or force increasingly larger amounts of guilt on their young members, probably leading them to inactivity later in life.
No religious organization can condone porn or masturbation. They may either ignore the topic or not stress it. But if a member of a church asks their pastor or priest about whether it is okay, the priest or pastor can not condone it or ignore it. The advice will be try to avoid it.
What church can make an announcement to its members that states: masturbation is good for you and so is porn...so just do it.
"But if a member of a church asks their pastor or priest about whether it is okay, the priest or pastor can not condone it or ignore it."
Yes they can. It is real simple. They simply say "Yes masturbation is good for you and you should not worry about it again. There is absolutly nothing wrong with masturbation..."
See? wasn't that easy?

Danger Will Robinson Danger!!!!
Whine me, when was the last time you actually saw your penis? Without using a mirror that is.

Nobody wants their kids looking at porn. The church doesn't have a monopoly on shielding kids from porn. The OP isn't about kids looking at porn. The "kid" is 18. He is an adult. If he thinks he has a porn problem and is seeking help, that's great (Although there are better places to get help then from a Mormon bishop, whose real job and expertise probably has nothing to do with counseling people on porn addiction, but that's another topic). But from the brief description in the OP, it sounds like this poor "kid" doesn't really need help, but is letting himself be coerced by his parents and church leaders. If he is seeking help, great. If he is allowing himself to be coerced by a controlling church leader, that's a problem.

Do you have a reading comprehension problem? My son is not the young man.
OK, some sanctimonious liberal is upset that junior had his porn shut off.
Wow....none of your numerous posts are even relevant to this thread.
More reading comprehension problems I see.
Or projection.

I love it. Droopy thinks that if someone objects to interfering with the privacy of an adolescent who (like most adolescents) wishes to masturbate from time to time, one is 'sanctimonious'.
Zadok: I did not have a faith crisis. I discovered that the Church was having a truth crisis. Maksutov: That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.

And a liberal....
No need to be coy...
