Is it fundamentally wrong for a Latter-day Saint to respond to critics? No. I've heard it from the mouth of an apostle in a closed setting that the brethren appreciated the work that FARMS was doing. The Bible is full of examples of responses to critics. Some not too polite. I mean, Jesus had a response to his own family when try tried to see him and he turned them back.

I like Dan because I know he believes what he does is right, but I don't like the lies and half truths that apologists or non-believers in LDS claims make. by the way William Law did not betray Joseph, even though Joseph may have felt that way. I Think William may have felt betrayed by Joseph, and he told the truth about what he knew. I have yet to see anyone show otherwise.

Judging by the D&C Bennet even had God fooled. Perhaps God is not a good judge of character.

I’m entirely unsympathetic to people who seem to go out of their way to take offense, or at least to claim that they’re offended, and who have to reach for their smelling salts if they hear a choir, or see a historic church on a city seal, or find themselves confronted by (quelle horreur!) a nativity scene. I have met Dr. Peterson several times. I've read much of what he has written and have attended his lectures and sermons.

He is, fundamentally, a believer and wholly dedicated to the advancement of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He is a very effective writer and speaker. I once brought a family of investigators to hear him speak in Westwood and the father joined the church a couple of weeks later in large part because of what he experienced.

It is really too bad that you have to focus on him and demonize him. I suppose that his one flaw is that he likes to use his writing to strike back, and that in and of itself exposes him to even more criticism, but really now, I've had it up to here with the constant attacks upon him.

I don't demonize the man. I don't even know him. It just seems sad that he's chosen to let his MI wounds fester and do so publicly. At some point one has to let go of the hurt and move on.

Dr. Peterson is one of those rare birds who thinks he has to set the record straight at every turn. I'm not such a person. Mike Quinn is not such a person. Hubert Humphrey was such a person. Douglas MacArthur was such a person. It is the way they approach life. It isn't "festering," in my view.
