Unfortunately I'm not a neighbor--just an admirer of your neck of the woods. I live in Kansas City.

I feel your pain. If your local mall has a Hollister store, you can go there and see a live web-cam of the surfers off of that Ruby's dock in Huntington Beach.

Kansas City!!!!!?

Time to rent a Uhaul and get out here! I've been to Kansas City. Big, muddy river and rusty bridges.

I used to live in Nashville... same thing.

I love the desert, too. I lived in the Mojave for quite some time... I miss it.

Where are you?

Chip Shop in Brooklyn. Also have mushy peas etc.

Any place that serves mushy peas is worth a trip! I make my own every now and then. Especially for Thanks Giving and Christmas.

Brooklyn is about as far as I can travel and still be in the U.S. I've been there a couple of times in the past. If I find myself there again (not totally out of the question), I'll check it out. Maybe you can meet me there for a pint.

What are mushy peas?

You haven't lived until you've tasted mushy peas.

Large Marrowfat peas that are dried. You cook them just like you cook dried beans. After soaking overnight, they are simmered for many hours.

After they are soft you add more butter than seems healthy along with salt and sugar.

A staple in English pubs. Comfort food. Just like pea soup only a hundred times better.

Mushy peas are amazing. And I'll stand you a pint too, Quasi..

Between living here, and spending my summers around Bryce Canyon, the color green has almost become unnatural.
