weak sauce .... you really should try to get over this uncontrolled anger issue that you seem to have with liz.

Ms. Jack is correct about the sequence of events. And while I did not make any public declarations about my feelings, I am deeply disappointed in the direction taken by a person who I thought was a good friend. Nothing I could have said then or now will change any of that.

MsJack wrote:(2) I left a few weeks later because one of Liz's recent invitees was repeatedly saying very unkind, very untrue things about my feelings towards Mormon men. I asked this person to please back up his/her statements about me; s/he refused to cough up so much as an iota of evidence that I dislike either Mormons or men.

This has always baffled me. The mere fact that you married one seems, to me, to be prima facie proof that you have no ill feelings toward Mormon men.

Prior to June of this year, they could always claim that their works were formally endorsed by BYU and the LDS Church (this in spite of the silly disclaimer they always include about not speaking for the Church).

And thus by this logic, your brand of anti Mormonism is relegated to obscurity in the same degree.

Don't get me wrong, I put up quite a stink about your leaving, Ms.Jack's leaving, Just me's and Socks suspension etc.

I just don't see, especially given the list of "special notice" how those events had much to do with any major (or minor) Mormon Apologetic event and would rate in the top 10.

But was Bokovoy really shafted by BYU?

Yes he was. He was passed for a full time position, which was given to someone with inferior credentials. He was pounded over and over in "interviews" which he said were more like interrogations, with questions focusing on his relationships with notable Ex-Mormons. Ultimately it seems BYU wasn't willing to risk it, because his associations with former members could lead to his own apostasy and future embarrassment for the Church and school.

I thought that the biggest event in mopologetics was Scratch's informant losing his job as infomer when DCP was fired. For me, that was a big event. And it freed DCP from having a spy among him.

Whatever it seems may not be the case. Many factors go into getting the job. He may have blown the interview. Or maybe the interviewers decided on a more suitbable candidate for the department. Sometimes better qualifications do not cut it when getting the job.

It appears that Dr Peterson is well represented amont the top ten happenings.

About Joseph Smith.. How do you think his persona was influenced by being the storyteller since childhood? Mastering the art of going pale, changing his voice, and mesmerizing his audience.. How do you think he was influenced by keeping secrets and lying for his wife and the church members for decades?

Keep rationalizing up more "plausible" excuses, why me. You don't know what the hell you are talking about, whereas I do. They had no valid excuse not to hire him, other than the fact that he had the audacity to associate with known apostates. That's why his "interviews" focused on that subject. Even DCP was shocked to find out about this. He was also lied to about the number of positions that were open at the time. There were two, but he was told only one. And the guys who got the jobs were not nearly as qualified as he. David has a doctorate from a respected University, is published in a prestigious peer reviewed publication, has taught for the Church's Educational system and at Harvard for more than a decade, etc. In fact, he was teaching for the Church the day he and I sat down for lunch in April. The guy who got the job had none of these, and slid into his spot because he convinced the talking heads that he had a bullet proof testimony. He would be a loyal "yes man" when they needed him to toe the line.

The Jackasses in that department, particularly John Gee's protege, Kerry Muhlstein, didn't think it was worth the risk to hire him on. The only person he had in his corner was of course, Brian Hauglid. David's professor at Brandeis (David Wright) is a well known apostate, and they were afraid he would be walking in his footsteps. They asked him specifically about comments he had made on these forums too, proving that they have a file on him, monitoring everything he says and making notes about how he sympathizes with other former members. Several of them kept asking him the same dumb questions over and over again about the same topic, bringing up names like Vogel and Wright, demanding to know exactly to what extent he sympathizes with them, etc. And you wonder why people think you're in a cult.
