Music to get you in the mood ...

Post by _Bret Ripley »

... for the end of the world. Remember kids: it's all fun and games until someone gets hit by an asteroid.

Here is a song by the most amazing bluesman you've probably never hear of: the great Danny Barker performs my favorite rendition of St. James Infirmary Blues.

My god, yes.

Pretty good, innit? This is from his Save the Bones CD. It used to be hard to find (I had to write to his daughter to order my copy), but now you can usually pick one up from a seller on Amazon.

I just bought the CD on Amazon from Louisiana Music Factory. Thanks Bret, for the happy, holiday blues cheer-up.

Thanks, Brett. Really liked this version. Still like Satchmo's though.

For a somber look at the end of the world, I recommend God's Song by Randy Newman.

For a something lighter, I suppose Peggy Lee's 'Is that all there is?'
"The great problem of any civilization is how to rejuvenate itself without rebarbarization."
- Will Durant
"We've kept more promises than we've even made"
- Donald Trump
"Of what meaning is the world without mind? The question cannot exist."
- Edwin Land

And here's an obvious choice.
