I thought this statement from Joe Scarborough on Morning Joe (Dec 21 show) deserves attention:
“You have Newtown, and the absolute fear, not just to speak out against the NRA, but against survivalists, to speak out against people who want to buy assault weapons, I mean, great, if you really do believe that James Madison wrote the Bill of Rights so people would have the ability to squeeze off that many rounds and have these extended magazine clips, if that’s your America to live in, that’s your America God bless you, good luck with that. If you really believe the federal government’s coming and going to kick down your doors so you think that, yeah, what you going to do, you going to shoot that weapon up at the drone? Lots of luck. It’s not going to help you. They don’t speak up against the slaughter of 20 young children and doing anything about that because they’re afraid they may offend survivalists, and people that are rushing out right now going to Walmart and buying assault weapons. They’re not going to stand up to so many of these extreme forces and it’s killing them.”
Later on the show he stated that the show had attempted to get several republican representatives to come on to talk about Newtown and its impact on possible future gun legislation, and they all refused. Some of them outright stated that they had to wait until after the NRA made their statement.

Joe Scarborough on assault weapons
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Re: Joe Scarborough on assault weapons
The Republican argument, like so many of their arguments, really is being exposed for the intellectual fraud that it is. And of course, it is all about money for them. They don't want to speak because they are afraid of the NRA, which is more powerful than those unions could ever hope to be.
Even Conservative news outlets are calling the NRA leader a crazy fuq.
They are getting so desperate for some kind of argument that the village idiots are having to rely on the "hypocrisy argument" about abortion. Several folks on Facebook have tried to play that card, arguing that we shouldn't complain about children being killed in America since we all support abortion (of course all leftists do ya know!). These people are so stupid that they really can't tell the difference between a 12 week old fetus with no brain, and a six year old child.
But even if we grant them their religiously based assumptions about "children" being "children" at conception, in reality they are the hypocrites for pretending to really care about the deaths of children, whether it be schools or in the womb. They oppose every effective government measure that has been shown to reduce abortions. Following their own logic, they'd rather millions of babies get torn apart than have the government require insurance companies to provide contraceptives.
