Democrat's entitlement mentality

Post by _bcspace »

For Rep. Danny K. Davis, Illinois Democrat, the "fiscal cliff" fight came down to one thing: the unemployment checks the government will still be able to send to thousands of his constituents.

"When I go to church on Sunday, I know that I will see people with the assurance that pretty soon an unemployment check is in the mail," he said.

Mr. Davis said he'd come to the floor Tuesday after speaking with two constituents who'd called his office begging him to vote against the cliff deal, which extended tax cuts for most Americans, allowed rates to rise for the wealthiest and included $330 billion in other new spending such as the expanded unemployment benefits for the long-term jobless.

He told those constituents the unemployment benefits were too critical to too many Illinois residents for him to vote no.

And for the Republicans the fight came down to only one thing, and that was to defend the useless tax breaks for the uber wealthy. That's all they cared about. They don't give a damn about deficits or spending and they never did.

I wonder which side Jesus would prefer. The one that takes comfort knowing he helped the poor and less fortunate, or the one who is just looking to keep rewarding the wealthy hands that feed him campaign contributions. You folks have no moral ground to stand on here.

I've been an Independent for a while now. I'm starting to fall along Liberalism precisely because my interacting with the likes of Droopy and BCSpace scare the crap out of me. The funny thing is I have no issues with personal libertarianism, but I do believe in social programs like local/national defense, public education, public infrastructure, etc... But these guys, if they had their way, would turn our country into a privatized security service. Blackwater would run everything for profit. It's insanity.

That said, the Liberals align themselves with the likes of Islamic fundamentalists because the latter pay lip service to social programs, but once they're in power they're like the Mormon church on steroids. The idiocy of Liberal multi-culturalism is astounding.

I'm stuck in the middle with both sides looking at me like I'm un-American and a traitor. Lol.

Meh.

I've voted for the Green Party. I've voted Republican. I've voted Democrat. Why do the Extremists have the platform? They're ruining this country, nay, the world. The Middle Way is the best way, and I wish people could understand that in a pluralistic society we need to accommodate everyone's views, but no one will get what they want.

Could you please explain this? This doesn't sound at all familiar to me. As a pretty liberal guy, I eschew fundamentalists of all stripes, and consider the Islamic type to be the worst, way ahead of the Christian variety. Also, I can't recognize any liberal groups in your description.

Certainly I strongly reject the notion of this being a Christian nation, and support the rights of minority religions, but that's not an embrace of Islam in any way. I want an entirely secular government.
