You are an apostate, a moral monster, an antichrist, a git, and I have several third-hand stories about your unhealthy attraction to sheep and how you help blind people halfway across the street.

Some of us, on the other hand, actually prefer a religion that includes some type of correlation with reality.

Slick Willy on yonder board push out this steaming turd of hypocrisy into their litterbox:
I have learned to assume that everything John Dehlin does is driven by his overwhelming need to draw attention to himself.
I have also learned that he has no compunction whatsoever to twist the truth in order to present himself as someone of importance who possesses power and influence.

How can someone be so unaware of themselves?

Deborah in one of 12,245 posts--1/25/13:
When I first saw the drawings of the proposed mall the thought that went immediately through my mind was that we were preparing for the Savior to come by making such a beautiful structure. Have you ever read of any description of heaven that did not describe gold and jewells and great beauty and wealth. The Lord doesn't intend the saints to live in huts but wants them to live in beauty and the finest quality. Our temples are places of great workmanship and quality. Even a humble home can be made beautiful. I think those who decry such enterprises do not see the big picture and certainly don't understand that the glory of God is not impoverishment but beauty and wealth where all can share and benefit. Even in the times when the church members fully lived the law of consecration, they were successful because they had prosperity and all could share in it. I really think that the reason the United Order failed in the pioneer church is because they did not have the prosperity where all could truly benefit as they needed.

A regular everyday marvelous work; and a wonder.

The scientific method is very useful and appropriate for things like discovering the rules like the freezing point of water, the motion of the planets. It wholly useless in many thing like determining wheter I walked across the street this morning (any one not observing the occurance must make a non-scientific, non-experimentally repeatable opinion as to the truth of it).
If you operate as dawkins and others, then you cloud your "science" with bias.

I like Brian 2.0...but this is a classic Freudian slip.

I grew up in the same church and never felt compelled to worship according to any prescribed interpretation. These so-called teachings have never been adopted and always challenged. Nobody is raised learning a sanitized history and speculative doctrine. They just choose to be lazy and never read on their own and then when they are compelled to think for themselves they feel cheated as if they were entitled to scholarly instruction from their 22 year old bus driver sunday school teacher.

rockpond I think there is one thing you don't understand. Once you give your money to the Church (or any other charity or business) it is theirs and you have relinquished the right to question how they use it. The time to question is before the contribution is given. If you don't get answers that satisfy you then don't contribute but once given it is no longer yours to control.
