Re: Evolution Again!

Morning, Ren

I wrote a fairly long reply to you (which got lost somewhere in cyber-space) so this short one will have to do for now!

Thanks for the discussion (Good stuff!)

Ren wrote:Pfft. there is always a 'but'...

And thank God (Or thank random mutations, if you prefer  ) for the 2 T'd version!

Agreed mate! ;)

Thanks, mate! (That was rather fun to call you "mate")

Maybe there is at least one thing we can agree on...
The explanations for such an amazing world are bound to be amazing in their own right - regardless of which of us is right / wrong.

Indeed!
And to be honest, to simply think about and discuss these kinds of topics is entirely fascinating and enormously interesting, no matter who happens to be "right/wrong". (Perhaps we are all wrong.........at least to some degree)

Sure - "goddidit" is a lot quicker to type than the paragraphs us 'evolutionists' are churning out!
But as an answer, It's not exactly 'mundane' either...

Agreed!

by the way, I noticed that you edited your post 18 times! THAT IS AWESOME! (With you and not at you, friend!)

Peace,

Yea, maybe they just got a running start and simply jumped to Hawaii! (Evidence of flight evolution with their half-winged-arm-stumpy thing a ma bobber!)

No problem. You're a good bloke

(Perhaps we are all wrong.........at least to some degree)

Absolutely!
I'm confident some are more 'wrong' than others on most topics. (That's just a matter of necessity).
But I'm just as confident nobody has the full picture...

by the way, I noticed that you edited your post 18 times! THAT IS AWESOME!

Heh
You'll have to excuse my complete OCD when it comes to posting!! ;)

I can never leave them alone. I'm constantly going back and thinking "Hmmm - I should probably clarify that point a bit more. And - oh - I could neaten it up by adding some space here...!"

...nutso...!!

And thank God (Or thank random mutations, if you prefer ) for the 2 T'd version!

Yea, this is something that I have suspected for a long time now.

No worries (and not nutso either), I just thought this new all-time record for editing should be acknowledged and appreciated by all here!

Ceeboo,

Why do you oppose John Paul II and Benedict? They both accepted evolution. If these popes accept it, why not you?

I do not oppose anything that the Papal Hat wearing most recent product of evolution suggest, write, or pronounce.

I simply do not share their opinion!

Search your heart young Ceeboo.

I do not oppose anything that the Papal Hat wearing most recent product of evolution suggest, write, or pronounce.

I simply do not share their opinion!

And this, my friends, is why the statement "Catholics teach that Popes are infallible but they don't really believe it. Mormons teach that the Prophet (or in the case of BCSpace, Intellectual Reserve's printing press and PDF creation software) is fallible but they don't really believe it."

:)

But seriously .... stepping back a bit. What is it about organic evolution that you find philosophically problematic? Many many Christians accept evolution as the means through which God created the universe. Frankly, I think the arguments for intelligent design are awful and should never be taught in schools. However, there is a certain beauty and order to the universe that, in my opinion, does not preclude the existence of God .

Daddy?

Well, I'm not sure that a Ceeboo statement could or should have any significant reflection to or upon the entire body of Catholics (Surely, there are many Catholics (Majority?) who do indeed believe this to be the case)

by the way, although I have deep love and respect for my Catholic Brethren, I have not considered myself to be one for quite some time now.

I don't find it philosophically problematic. I find it problematic, period.

Many many Christians accept evolution as the means through which God created the universe.

Yes, I know! (They are usually refered to as Theistic Evolutionists) and their numbers are very large indeed.

Frankly, I think the arguments for intelligent design are awful and should never be taught in schools. However, there is a certain beauty and order to the universe that, in my opinion, does not preclude the existence of God .
