There is a wide, fuzzy line between people who are less intelligent than average and people who are, well, special. When I debate people on the other side of that line, I feel kinda dirty.

And what really bugs me about the two of you is how you disdain the social welfare net of this country while you both benefited from it. You think that there's something inherently better about you, more worthy about you, that makes it right for you to receive government assistance in times of need, but there's something inherently wrong or unworthy with the "other" (who, no doubt are "urban") which makes them just useless takers when they benefit from the same system you have.

According to Lee Atwater, the specific aim of the southern strategy was to get the white-trash vote by pushing for economic policies that were bad for white trash. This is because he recognized that the white trash would enthusiastically support such policies because they’d recognize that “blacks get hurt worse than whites.”

Getting certain posters to recognize this fact is as futile as getting fish to recognize the presence of water.

I understand and agree. But that line is fuzzy. It's easier to recognize the signs in real life - more difficult on the internet. But I do admit I am considering simply putting ldsfaq on ignore so I don't feel kinda dirty either, when I really wonder about him.
