Ah yes, "truth" is the very best kind of truth, and "anecdotal" is the best and most reliable kind of evidence.
As an expert, you already know that this lying propaganda chart just shows the top of the meat list, and that its creators pretend that they DO track such things in other countries, in spite of your assurance that they don't. These liars dare to tell us that in 2009, 52.3 Kg of meat per capita was consumed in Malaysia, and 11.6 Kg in Indonesia. (We know they are liars, because it's the Food and Agriculture Organization of the dirty lying United Nations, implementing their agenda of undercounting Asian meat eating to make the West look like greedy fatties.)
Instead of pointing to collected data, I should have relied on my own anecdotal evidence, gathered as a missionary in Asia. But that's no good, because my years there gave me a false impression of the locals -- as people who ate much less than Americans over all, and who got their protein mainly from tofu and seafood. My obviously faulty memory tells me that meat was expensive, sold in small packages (nothing like the big packs of steak and chubs of ground beef in US stores), and eaten in moderation. That has to be wrong.

I know, right? It's shameful. All that hunting and target shooting as a youth counts for nothing. The only thing that really counts as "touching" is actually shooting at another person, something with which I have ZERO experience, I must admit.

ldsfaqs, how much do you weigh? Do you have any weight related health issues? How much cardio do you do each day? How many calories do you eat each day?
by the way, I have never "needed" to drink 32 oz of anything at one time.
Oh, and it is actually healthier to drink nothing WITH a meal. Drinking liquids with your food dilutes your digestive juices.
And every healthcare professional worth their "salt" will tell you not to drink your calories.
Please show me a study that backs up your claim that sugar (meaning white sugar, corn syrup) is good for us.

Do you want to know "why" your chart basically lists EVERY SINGLE "Western" country as the top meat eaters?
It's BECAUSE WE ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO TRACK IT!!!
Wrong. The trackers track everyone. You just have to look around at several different articles and charts.
Here is one that shows how low Japan is compared to the US: http://geocurrents.information/cultural-geogra ... onsumption

For what it is worth, research is increasingly showing that anything up to moderate obesity per se isn't a health problem so much as a side effect and cause of behavior that is a health problem such as extreme sedentary lifestyles. If you are older, it's actually a little healthier to be overweight than it is to not due to overweight people's better capacity to handle a serious illness outweighing the health correlates of appropriate weight.
Moreover, minus carcinogenic compounds and so forth, there is a raging debate in nutritional science over whether it matters at all for your overall health what kind of calories you take in once you have acquired some basic nutritional requirements. There isn't sufficient evidence to sort that out that this point. That's what you get gimmick stunts by scientists like going on a mostly twinkie diet and having their health improving.
To the extent that it does matter, the effect must be sufficiently subtle to not be clearly detected by our research apparatus at this point. The real problem with "junk food" might simply be in its role in regulating our eating behavior rather than its direct effects. These are not easily answered questions.
Heh. What? I can only imagine what wooey fitness blog you got that one from. Maybe this'll help you:

Doubting fascist! You know darn well our expert is ripped like Jesus.

Well, you haven't "needed" to wash down a giant tub of his local theater's "buttered" popcorn in the time it takes to see a Care Bears movie. Gotta have a full 32 ounces of root beer for that. Plus there are the drinking games. You have to take a long swig every time they do the Care Bear Stare.

ldsfaqs has posted videos of himself where he clearly isn't in the best of shape weight wise. I wouldn't rib him for it too much.
I'm 140ish lbs and look athletic. I'd be happy to argue there isn't anything wrong with eating sugary foods in appropriate moderation, though I don't think the truth of that statement is in anyway dependent on my personal fitness. Plus, I don't think the state has the right to demand people make healthy lifestyle choices for their own good. I think those value decisions should be left to the individual.

OMG, you are SO right, as usual. Stupid liberals.
I mean, every health expert worth anything will tell you that you can eat anything you want, as long as you also exercise. Just lift some weights and ride your bike every day, and you can guzzle down as many liquid-sugar calories you want. Don't worry about developing diabetes. That's just a liberal media myth. There is no relationship between consumption of sugar and weight gain, and certainly none between salt consumption and blood pressure.
When all those fitness informercials put the fine print on the screen that says something like "when following our included diet plan," they're just forced to include that nonsense by fascist big-government regulations influenced by the powerful vegetable lobby. Same with that Biggest Loser show, when they put those fatties on a strict diet. They would get the same results if they just did the exercise, letting them eat ramen and mac-n-cheese every day, washed down by a 2-liter bottle of Dr. Pepper.
I have drank a lot of soda pop throughout my lifetime, but I never developed diabetes over drinking that stuff.

Indeed Brackite......
I had a friend growing up who was skinny, but an active fit guy, and by age 16 he could dunk a basketball and he was only like 5,10. He never had proper meals growing up, ate lot's of junk food, soda, etc... Now, he's married, with kids and he's a little fat due to a wife who cooks, but he still has no health problems.
I've known many people who were skinny, who ate junk food all the time.
Me I was fit my whole life mostly until I got married, bad marriage caused me to gain weight and not get it off yet, but I always ate healthy and just treat myself once in a while a few times a week with something or another. But, don't have a single health problem other than weight.
Of course, no one is saying people should "indulge" in junk food or not eating healthy.
I'm simply stating that the actual "causes" of peoples health problems aren't the foods themselves or the amounts at ONE SITTING. It's lifestyle primarily due to exercise. Obviously if you're indulging in those foods and you don't do anything, then yes, those foods are the contributing factor, but the problem is still ones fitness level. I've seen skinny people who've mostly eat healthy their whole lives and they have high cholesterol and/or diabetes.
The key preventer and resolver of nearly ALL these problems are "exercise", full body exercise specifically, both cardo and weight bearing.

Analytics wrote:You forgot a couple of big ones. It is NOT fascism to simply implement building laws that require solar and wind technology's to be used in every new home built, or business building, and them to be implemented when remodeling etc.
It IS fascism to allow people in the free market to build regular houses or sardine houses if that is what they choose to do.
That is not what I said at all.
Building laws that promote well being, quality of life, sustainability, etc. that DOES NOT in any way "infringe" on some right, is of course not "fascism".
You think that a "law" period is fascism? Well, it's not.
Laws are only fascist if they ban and prevent the reasonable actions of doing other or alternative things.
I also never said it was fascism either to allow people to build what they want.
I was simply stating that Liberals who claim to care so much, don't seem to care in ways that would help society, and don't in fact restrict freedom in any unreasonable way.
Building codes have good reasons for them. Building sardine houses when they are supposed to be regular houses should be against building code when you have OPEN AREA. The same for the implementation of self-sustaining home technology's. Getting more people to be self-sustainable in a city especially that has limited water and power is a reasonable building code. I mean, Las Vegas implemented all these laws restricting grass in order to save water, yet they allow the building of low quality homes.
I'm just stating it doesn't make sense. Nothing liberals do make sense.
