That's a factual question, not a legal one. So maybe you would like to articulate what all of the admissible evidence is in the George Zimmerman case as a starting point.

"Assault" is a legal term of art, and that is relevant when someone is claiming self-defense. Even if Trayvon Martin did assault George Zimmerman, that in itself would not justify murdering him. There is no reason to believe you understand this, so I'll just tell you that an affirmative defense of self-defense concedes that a murder happened. It then goes on to say the murder was justified. I don't know enough about the facts to know whether Zimmerman was justified. However, I have no reason to believe that you do, either.

No. There is no possible way a reasonable person reading this thread could infer that from anything I have said. But then it is you who is inferring it, so "reasonable person" is a moot point.

Even if it was established that George Zimmerman was a racist, that would not by itself overcome a claim of self-defense. Trayvon Martin didn't get to attack people and beat them up for being racist.

The same is true if Trayvon Martin was a racist. Even if it were established that he was, that does not mean he attacked George Zimmerman, nor that he attacked George Zimmerman to the extent that Zimmerman was justified in murdering him.

The prosecution is entitled to admit that evidence, if they have it, as evidence of motive, and the defense is entitled to offer that evidence, if they have it, as a pertinent character trait of the victim. But in neither case is it determinative. You don't get to beat people up for being racist, and you don't get to kill people because of the plight of inner city black people. That's not how the law works.
