Post by _ludwigm »

The 14th Dalai Lama (religious name: Tenzin Gyatso, shortened from Jetsun Jamphel Ngawang Lobsang Yeshe Tenzin Gyatso, born Lhamo Dondrub, 6 July 1935) is the 14th and current Dalai Lama, as well as the longest lived incumbent. Dalai Lamas are the head monks of the Gelugpa lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989

The Dalai Lama has written many excellent books. I would recommend The Dalai Lama's Little Book of Inner Peace: The Essential Life and Teachings.

You don't have to be a Buddhist to appreciate the wisdom of his thoughts.

I actually met Gandhi's grandson, who lived in my old apartment building for a time, but that doesn't hold a candle to you wife's meeting with Gandhi AND the Dalai Lama. Both look a little waxy, however...
