I know a TBM who thought that The Lion King was evil because the song "Hakuna Matata" about having no worries was Satan's outlook on life.

Because Jesus certainly would never have said that we shouldn't worry about tomorrow or anything like that.

Murdering Mufasa, making Simba feel guilty and run away for a death he didn't cause, Scar ruining the pride lands with his unrighteous dominion.....those weren't the Satanic things. Just "Hakuna Matata."

I think most of us have done some dumb things in regards to administrative stuff re: speeding tickets, traffic tickets, etc. This gets a shrug for me. If this man weren't famous in the Mormon/Utah community, this never would have made the news.

You're right. I really like Ballam; he has always seemed like a sweet guy to me.

"A mugshot showed him with a smile and a full beard, as he is preparing to play the role of Tevye on “Fiddler on the Roof,” which starts July 13 and runs through Aug. 10."

I must have missed that...All is right in Zion. by the way, I love "Fiddler on the Roof"

My understanding is that, upon his incarceration the officers charged him for attempted bribery of an officer of the law when he said he could buy anything in this world for money.....
That said, with the Book of Mormon, we are not dealing with a civilization with no written record. What we are dealing with is a written record with no civilization. (Runtu, Feb 2015)

Someone has to be that guy...

It's Rhodes Scholar.

As to the subject of this thread...

Zzzzzzzzzz. A guy got pulled over for speeding, didn't have proof of insurance, and missed the hearing date. Big deal. My guess (though I have no way to know) is that he was notified via the mail that he missed his court date thus causing a warrant for his arrest to be issued and he went in voluntarily to take care of it, which included the bearded mug shot. Even if he purposely ignored the hearing date because the thinks he's above the law because he has some minor celebrity status among endowed members and was forced to deal with it when he was picked up by law enforcement, this still classifies as much ado about nothing.
There are some who call me...Tim.

Sounds like you're having a hell of a time with this thread, Tim. Sorry it has bedevilled you so. These kinds of proceedings are sort of monotonous, but as they say, the devil is in the details.

I can keep doing this for a while, if you want.........

P.S. Sorry to see Michael Ballam has become such a fallen angel.

I wonder if I can find anything about Michael Ballam's music on Pitchfork.

Okay, I'll stop.

For now.

During my six-year-investigator-status (Guinness entry?) my best member friend was NameWithHold.
He has my option to be baptized by him. As I revealed him, it will be not tomorrow. He agreed. Up to now...

He used to play the role of Lucifer, when there were no movies.
Interestingly, he used to talk about his temple experiences before the whole ward. He said: "the weirdest thing was the protestant minister - having nurtured by protestant* parents/tradition (* Reformed Church in Hungary: Magyarországi Református Egyház)".

The father of my wife was a Reformed Church priest.
She doesn't believe the pre-90 temple version; and she disinclined to ask members, who took part in it before 90. "We don't talk about temple outside".

So much about church history, and knowledge of the members.

She has identified Ballam...
- Whenever a poet or preacher, chief or wizard spouts gibberish, the human race spends centuries deciphering the message. - Umberto Eco
- To assert that the earth revolves around the sun is as erroneous as to claim that Jesus was not born of a virgin. - Cardinal Bellarmine at the trial of Galilei
