Everyone must follow copyright laws. Also, in Sweden one must know that one is being taped. If not, it is illegal. One must have permission. Would you want someone taping you and then put it on the Internet without you knowing that you were taped or that it was going to put all over the internet and mocked?
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world. Joseph Smith We are “to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry up the tear of the orphan, to comfort the afflicted, whether in this church, or in any other, or in no church at all…” Joseph Smith

It was a public meeting which wasn't prefaced with asking the attendee's to sign a confidentiality agreement. Nothing personal was discussed, just publicly available facts about the Church and leaders answering questions about them, what could be embarrassing about that....
That said, with the Book of Mormon, we are not dealing with a civilization with no written record. What we are dealing with is a written record with no civilization. (Runtu, Feb 2015)

I think the Church is crapping huge chunks of bricks over this.

A written transcript would be legal. Those are available. In view of what we're discussing, your comments are kind of humorous.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

It's all true. Mistakes were made, prophets were human beings and the church has not handled its educational programs with the best transparency. In fact, most of the questions you now have, and even the fact that you have these questions, is a result of the misguided decisions in the early 70's toward correlation and making the archives less accessible. But things are going to change because the kind of questions you have raised make it clear that we cannot delay rethinking how the church disseminates its history and how it well it answers the needs of its members. We need to find better ways to communicate in order to help strengthen members, and the church as a whole, in terms of its mission to spread the gospel. Thank you, Brothers and Sisters for your help."
The result? Renewed confidence and more committed members.
But they prefer trauma and excommunication?
That this might have happened 40, 30, 20 years ago is conceivable. But that this went down in 2010 is simply shocking.
Hopefully something was learned as a result of this experience. At the Provo meeting with Bushman and Terryl & Fiona Givens there was no axeman and no ultimatum. No local leaders were present to my knowledge.
Is there anything in the behaviour of the Church Leadership that leads one to suspect that something, anything, has been learned from this?

Not to me, it isn't. My only hope is that, having failed so disastrously in 2010, they won't try that again.
My hope is they learned something about the members (not that any of it will be taken seriously or be considered useful). A vain hope, I know.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

If I acted as they did, particularly the Area President GA who ambushed this small group of members with threats and an ultimatum, then absolutely YES! Elder Kopischke's behavior was an abomination and it should be exposed.

I said it was my hope, but I doubt it, as well. All this talk of openness stops the moment something really damaging is in question. Imagine that the Joseph Smith Papers discovered a document in Joseph Smith's handwriting, confessing that he had made up the whole story of angels and plates. Would the JSP project publish it? Not a chance.
