Would you want someone taping you and then put it on the Internet without you knowing that you were taped or that it was going to put all over the internet and mocked?

why me,

I was just told by an employee of mine (who also happens to specialize in intellectual property, both domestically and foreign) that you couldn't be more wrong.

He informed me that generally in Sweden, making a recording with or without permission is legal if the people you are recording were active participants in the conversation. Also, I was told there is a public exception in Sweden that allows (with or without permission) recording audio and/or video for group meetings and group conversations.

Sorry why me, I'm going to have to go with the expert on this.

Not to me, it isn't. My only hope is that, having failed so disastrously in 2010, they won't try that again.

The only hope I see is that the church is adverse to bad PR these days. And thanks to techonlogy and the Internet it only takes one person to record an event like the Marlin/Turley fireside and it post it online, only one person to blog about it, and the event becomes available to anyone interested.
If they try to bully a group of members with this, 'you're either in or out' at least there is some price to be paid in the form of making the church look bad.

The one 'silver lining' of this travesty.

I bet it was, Doctor. Who else has pushed that thesis so stridently in recent years?

Or it is it possible that the new MI is taking William's idea and running with it but in a slightly different direction? Lets not kid ourselves and suggest William is presenting his own original idea.

I wanted to add that I will not read or listen to the transcript. This will not shake my faith and I need not encounter something that is just there to hurt my morale. To me, this is a pretty simple issue to shelve.

Nothing personal was discussed, just publicly available facts about the Church and leaders answering questions about them, what could be embarrassing about that....

That is not the issue. The issue is that it was recorded and posted on the Internet without permission. I am sure that it also has do with copyright. For example here is the problem in a neighboring country Finland:

Wrong again, why me.

Maybe you should leave the legal analysis to the experts.

why are Mormon leaders so obsessed with doing business in the shadows, behind closed doors?

They've done this from the very beginning of the Church institution. Case in point: Joseph Smith's preaching and practicing polygamy (including polyandry) within a small circle of trusted associates, while at the same time claiming in public that he has only one wife.
