So much hilariousness in this thread. Thanks for the laughs, one and all.

True.
This one is the best, I think:

Now THAT was name calling. But, I also backed it up by showing how you people are morons.

There's also the case of Roderick Scott:

In this case, the older adult shooter is black, and the young teenage victim is white.

Not guilty: The verdict in the manslaughter trial of Roderick Scott. After more than 19 hours of deliberations over two days, a jury acquitted the Greece man in the shooting death of Christopher Cervini, 17, last April.
"I just want to say thank you to the people who believed in me, who stood by me,” Scott said following the verdict. “I still have my regrets for the Cervini family; it's still an unfortunate situation for them. I am happy that at least this chapter is over."
----------------------------
Cervini's family members say justice wasn't served. They say Christopher was murdered in cold blood, that he'd never been in trouble and Scott acted as judge, jury and executioner.
------------------------------
Scott says he acted in self defense when he confronted Cervini and two others saying they were stealing from neighbors cars. He told them he had a gun and ordered them to freeze and wait for police.
Scott says he shot Cervini twice when the victim charged toward him yelling he was going to get Scott.

Re: Neighborhood Watch Heros
Excellent post Cinepro.... That case almost perfectly matches the Zimmerman case.
The main only difference is that he was able to have time to protect himself and shoot before being attacked.
Which by the way is exactly why stand your ground laws exist. Him attempting to run away when the guy came at him could have also placed him in more danger.
Plus, citizens ARE allowed to make citizen's arrest if witness to a crime. The liberals forget that also.

Another miscarriage of justice. He also should have been convicted for killing the kid. I don't care that the kid was committing a crime. Scott had no right to kill him.
He had no business leaving the safety of his home with a gun and confronting people trying to break into a car. The only thing he should have done is to report the crime and act as a witness if necessary.
In this case, the older adult shooter is black, and the young teenage victim is white.
That's not the only difference:
1. He didn't profile kids walking through his neighborhood based on their appearance and his assumptions about them. He actually caught them attempting a crime.
2. He was immediately arrested and charged. No public outrage was needed for the local cops and prosecutors to do their jobs.
There is a lot here that is not like the Florida case, but one important thing is the same. He voluntarily put himself in the situation where he later felt threatened and decided he needed to shoot another person.
By the way, New York does not have a Stand Your Ground law. Even their Castle Doctrine is relatively weak, in that it specifies "non-lethal" force unless absolutely necessary for self defense.

I've only read a few articles on the case, but it never seems to have been established that the teenagers were actually stealing from cars. Other than Roderick's accusation that they were, there's no actual evidence that they were. But that might be the way news reports word it to avoid any liability.
2. He was immediately arrested and charged. No public outrage was needed for the local cops and prosecutors to do their jobs.
The point is that these things can happen regardless of the race of the shooter or victim, and that the shooter can be acquitted regardless of the race of the shooter or victim.
Perhaps the Roderick case was another unjust acquittal, but at least it would indicate that juries can be equally bad regardless of the race of the shooter and victim.
Obviously, if we look at this from a gun-safety perspective, this case doesn't help those who would argue for the status quo.
