I think it's a clever ploy on the part of the Times. It looks like I'm going to have to subscribe to get dog poop bags.

Whatever it leads to...whatever you think of bans or government edicts, whatever your political persuasion, does anyone argue that the elimination of plastic bags would not be a good thing for the environment?

If you think there is an issue, then work within the spirit of freedom to solve it, don't simply "ban" things.
You liberals have no brains..... It's ban ban ban everything you think is "harmful" in some form.
ban ban ban.... Rather than use any sort of intelligence to "control" behavior and "direct" behavior in more positive ways.

Make plastic bags out of corn, so they are bio-degradable, or a more bio friendly plastic.
Make non-disposable plastic bags, so people use them over and over, and then when they wear out, recycle them.

Meet with the experts in industry, science etc., work to find BETTER ways. But no..... ban ban ban.... just like you do with anything else.

by the way, you still didn't address your straw-man that I debunked.

"Mark Danels, environmental policy expert?" Daniels' organization, American Progressive Bag Alliance is a plastics industry trade association.

His real employer is Hilex Poly, where part of his duties include being an industry mouthpiece in trade organizations.

When I want statistics on lung cancer my first instinct is not to quote a tobacco company lobbying group. And when I do, I wouldn't use the label 'medical policy expert'.
On the one hand - Of course there is a lobby for plastic bag manufactures. Why not?

On the other - The idea that there is a plastic bag lobby called the "American Progressive Bag Alliance" with paid shills and everything is hilarious.

I on the other hand, love plastic bags, especially the plastic bags that I get from "evil" Wal-Mart.

ban ban ban....

Yeah, stupid libbruls. You're always banning things you think are harmful... things like sodomy, sex education, gay marriage, weed, and minorities voting.

So conservatives are ideologically opposed to trying to reduce the amount of plastic bags in landfills?
