A modern icon, "Maris Stella (Star of the Sea)", by Fr. McNichol.
Mary, Star of Hope, Holy Mary, Mother of God, our Mother, teach us to believe, to hope, to love with you. Show us the way to his Kingdom! Star of the Sea, shine upon us and guide us on our way!
Being a Christian is not the result of an ethical choice or a lofty idea, but the encounter with an event, a person, which gives life a new horizon and a decisive direction -Pope Benedict XVI
"Madonna and Child", by Utah artist Avard Fairbanks
Located in the Utah Cathedral of the Madeleine, in what was formerly the baptistery, but is now the "Chapel of Our Lady of Zion". The chapel is on the east side of the main exit from the Cathedral. It houses the statue acquired in 1993.
(The ceiling in this chapel is amazing, it is a mural of a star-filled night.)

The Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry is usually referred to as "le roi des manuscrits enluminés" or "the king of the illuminated manuscripts", but it is also a pinnacle in the entire history of painting.
Commissioned by Jean, Duc de Berry in 1413, it was painted by the Limbourg brothers who left it unfinished at their (and the Duc's) death in 1416.
The Duc Charles I de Savoie commissioned Jean Colombe to complete the painting of the manuscript between 1485-1489.

Maddie - I just noticed this thread. Thank you! I love them all. I especially like the Madonna and Child statue.
Oh for shame, how the mortals put the blame on us gods, for they say evils come from us, but it is they, rather, who by their own recklessness win sorrow beyond what is given... Zeus (1178 BC)
Oh dammit I can't post images in the off-topic either. That was below the belt, Shades...
