The National Unemployment rate is at 7.4%.
Now that's a strong correlation. That's also why Germany has such a high unemployment rate.
Wait a minute! I think I finally see the actual cause. Those states are all land locked, and California has a very long coastline. Therefore, it's obvious that beaches and the tide cause unemployment.
The Liberal Democrats completely control California...
Then I'm sure they have reversed Prop 13 by now. Right?

They're definitely looking at it (and not without good reason). The ways businesses are are abusing it are absurd:
California legislators, even with a two-thirds Democratic majority, have considered but rejected any major overhaul of Proposition 13. But even the U.S. Constitution gets amended from time to time; Proposition 13 should not be exempt from corrections.
Yet it is still that third rail of California politics; any change to the measure would need deep analysis of how it will affect the demographic that was imperiled by unchecked property taxes the first time around -- the elderly. All good public policy is subtle and nuanced, not a broadsword.
One huge strategic issue for anyone trying to remedy Proposition 13 -- their “fix” won’t fit on a bumper sticker. “Save Prop. 13” will practically fit on a bicycle.

I wonder if there has ever been a case where someone who refused to join the union supported by their fellow workers refused to accept pay increases and other benefits won by those unionized coworkers.

So you think that the big and main problem in California is still Proposition 13, even though California now has the highest income, sales, and gasoline taxes in the Nation? You don't think that there aren't any other big problems in California, such as huge public-sector union benefits?

"The power of public sector unions pits Democrats against each other, because the impact of public sector unions is bankrupting our state and local government agencies, including BART. Whenever there is a surplus, the unions take everything off the table. No new investment. No new services. No new infrastructure. Just more pay and benefits for government workers. Democrats are waking up, and a schism is developing between the ideologues and the pragmatists."

Don't forget my hero Jeff Adachi:
In recent years, many pension funds suffered investment losses that brought their funds below the break-even mark. When pension funds lose money, the state and most cities have provisions in their constitutions or charters that require taxpayers to make up the difference. In San Francisco, pension costs soared from $175 million to $525 million — an increase of 300 percent in just five years. Not surprisingly, we experienced a severe decrease in funding for basic services.
City services were slashed. After-school programs were canceled. The City no longer had $1 million to help the school district fund summer school for 10,000 children. The City was spending 10 times more on pensions than it did on street repairs. Yet no one questioned the rising costs of pensions.

Actually, I didn't say that. It was a question to gauge how "complete" the liberal control of the state actually is.

Now this looks like a correlation...
