You really have to ask about a 'loving father' who deliberately put thorns and thistles to vex and torment man?
Who needs a Satan with a dad like that?

I don't think anthropomorphizing animals is any kind of argument.

Hello Mr. BCSpace,
Ducks rape other ducks. Ducks have sex with dead ducks.
Why would God do that?

Probably for the LULZ?
Maybe the god who controls the video game that is our universe is a spotty teenage god with no girl-friends? The rapist ducks really turn him on bigtime ...

Why would a benevolent God create something like this? Christians and Mormons are more than welcome to explain this to me.

Procreation impulses. The young are susceptible to miscues. Dead penguins resemble females ready to mate. Very short mating season. Sex drive, as you probably know, is very powerful. Penguins don't have a sense of morality like many humans. God doesn't hold them accountable.

Also, penguins live in a severe and unforgiving environment and you would want as many of those suckers procreating as possible to keep the population alive and well.

Dammit, we're talking design here.
And this is the best that the almighty creator of all things can manage? If I was a software engineer and designed a program with bugs in it like that, I'd expect to be fired. Surely a deity could do just a little better?

Anthropomorphizing is when you ascribe human features/actions to animals
Such as necrophilia and gang rape I know.

What exactly does that mean, "almighty creator of all things"? What exactly does almighty mean, anyhow? What is it about a deity that makes you think a deity could have done "just a little better"?

Doc, are you benevolent? Do you think you could have done a better job? If so, what's stopping you? If you think you could do a better job than God, as Latter-day Saints understand Him, did, then why don't you step in and take over?

A fallen world is NOT how God designed all life. In a higher state of existence the lamb and the lion lie down together and the little child plays with what were oonce deadly insects. None HURT nor destroy in all God's holy mountain.
Why do I bother?

KevinSim,
Sometimes you are painful to watch, my friend. What folks are trying to say to you here, in a nice way, is that the best basic assumption one can make in order to truly understand and make sense of the world we as humankind see around us is that there is no God.
Humankind has outgrown the need for an imaginary sky friend (if it indeed ever had such a need) and the damage done to societies around the world in modern times by dogged adherence to the imagined commandments of the hundreds of versions of a supreme being that humankind still burdens itself with grows every day.
It is doubtful that one your age still believes in Santa Clause. Surely you have outgrown that belief. Have you ever asked yourself what the difference is between belief in Santa Clause and belief in the Mormon God? Please consider:
- Both are anthropomorphic.
- Both are reputed to have wives by some and not others, but humankind knows little about these females, if indeed they exist.
- Both are said to be capable of magic.
- Both prefer to work their magic to the benefit of those who are nice and not for those who are naughty.
- Beyond these basic attributes, the characteristics and behaviors of both God (Elohim, Jehovah, Allah, Yaweh) and of Santa Clause (St. Nicholas, Father Christmas, Der Wiehnachtsmann), are wholly defined by the societies and cultures that imagined and continue to believe in them.
- Plenty of people through history have are reputed to have seen both, but there is no consensus on whether or not such a sighting is even possible.
- The list goes on, but most importantly; if neither one actually existed, the world and the universe would continue on exactly as they have for the last 4.5 and 13.5 billion years or so, respectively.
Given a choice between the two imaginary friends, I would personally select Santa Clause. He minds his own business most of the time. He doesn't send floods and plagues to kill millions of people. He does not demand that his people slaughter those who are not his people. He does not choose con men and adulterers as prophets. And he doesn't demand 10% of my income to be given to a real estate holding corporation posing as a church.
