Monkeys out of your ass is patiently absurd, but translating via a magical rock in a hat, isn't?

Wow, I sure hope your guess is wrong because we would yet again be talking about a God that I would not want to worship. Do you have any idea how ridiculous and condescending that sounds? As if he's never asked God a question? As if this hoax would be the perfect catalyst to do so...please.

Yes he does and it took him a mere three posts in this thread to get to his standard derail. The ignore feature is really useful here.
"Any over-ritualized religion since the dawn of time can make its priests say yes, we know, it is rotten, and hard luck, but just do as we say, keep at the ritual, stick it out, give us your money and you'll end up with the angels in heaven for evermore."

Runtu can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe he's ever claimed to have seen God, let alone spoken with him face-to-face. So perhaps you are confused, but I don't believe it is ridiculous to believe in God or that we can speak with such a being. And I don't believe it is condescending in the slightest to recommend that people actually do that if they really are interested in obtaining the answers to their questions.cognitiveharmony wrote:Wow, I sure hope your guess is wrong because we would yet again be talking about a God that I would not want to worship. Finished page 2 of this thread. Oh my God!

mms wrote:This in and of itself is an amazing "coincidence" that would cause many whom I know to panic:
Alma 53:19 And now behold, as they never had hitherto been a disadvantage to the Nephites, they became now at this period of time also a great support; for they took their weapons of war, and they would that Helaman should be their leader.
20 And they were all young men, and they were exceedingly valiant for courage, and also for strength and activity; but behold, this was not all—they were men who were true at all times in whatsoever thing they were entrusted.
21 Yea, they were men of truth and soberness, for they had been taught to keep the commandments of God and to walk uprightly before him.
22 And now it came to pass that Helaman did march at the head of his two thousand stripling soldiers, to the support of the people in the borders of the land on the south by the west sea.
From Hunt book:Chapter XIX, verse 32
32. About this time, a stripling from the south, with his weapon of war in his hand.
Ch VI, 2
2. And to a certain chief captain called Wlliam, whose sir-name was Hull, was given in trust a band of more than two thousand chosen men, to go forth to battle in the north.
I don't see any similarities. One battle took place in the North and the other in the South. Clearly ole' Joe didn't copy anything or he wouldn't have mixed up his North and South. To me, this is the most compelling evidence to the authenticity of the Book of Mormon. Someone call the missionaries. I need to be re-baptized.

Re: Possible Modern Source for the Book of Mormon
This seems eerily similar to me:
It reminded me of this:
Late History, Chapter 19:57-60:
Oh! earth, how long shall thy inhabitants delight in warfare? when shall the old men cease to weep for their children?
Behold you lonely widows; they weep for their husbands and their children; but they shall see their faces no more!
The fair daughters of Columbia sigh for the return of their beloved.
Seest thou those little ones? they fly to their disconsolate mother, they leap with joy at the name of the father! but he shall never return!
It reminded me of this:
Mormon 6:16-20:
16 And my soul was rent with anguish, because of the slain of my people, and I cried:
17 O ye fair ones, how could ye have departed from the ways of the Lord! O ye fair ones, how could ye have rejected that Jesus, who stood with open arms to receive you!
18 Behold, if ye had not done this, ye would not have fallen. But behold, ye are fallen, and I mourn your loss.
19 O ye fair sons and daughters, ye fathers and mothers, ye husbands and wives, ye fair ones, how is it that ye could have fallen!
20 But behold, ye are gone, and my sorrows cannot bring your return.

But what happens when someone does talk with God and their answer is different than you suggest? What if someone prays about the Book of Mormon and their answer is "No, it is not true"?

I haven't suggested an answer. I'm perfectly fine with God speaking for himself.Sanctorian wrote:But what happens when someone does talk with God and their answer is different than you suggest?
Then for heaven's sake, do what God tells you to.Sanctorian wrote:What if someone prays about the Book of Mormon and their answer is "No, it is not true"?

Please don't let Tobin derail this thread. He's idiotic and it's completely transparent. You don't have to respond to him. No one worthwhile is fooled by him.
