Spencer W. Kimball in the October 1968 General Conference (p.131 (p. 135 of the PDF), top of right hand column) wrote:Desirable as is secular knowledge, one is not truly educated unless he has the spiritual with the secular. The secular knowledge is to be desired; the spiritual knowledge is an absolute necessity. We shall need all of the accumulated secular knowledge in order to create worlds and to furnish them, but only through the "mysteries of God" and these hidden treasures of knowledge may we arrive at the place and condition where we may use that knowledge in creation and exaltation.

Orson Pratt in the Tabernacle in August 1871 (p. 242 (p. 250 of the PDF), top of right hand column) wrote:As our Father and God begat us, sons and daughters, so will we rise immortal, males and females, and beget children, and, in our turn, form and create worlds, and send forth our spirit children to inherit those worlds, the same as we were sent here, and thus will the works of God continue, and not only God himself, and His Son Jesus Christ have the power of endless lives, but all of His redeemed offspring. They grow up like the parents; that is a law of nature so far as this world is concerned.

Thomas D. Reece in the October 1920 General Conference (p. 151) wrote:As Latter-day Saints, we understand that our boys and girls, who stand by our sides are our greatest wealth in this world and in the eternities. They will stand in the presence of God with us, as the riches above all riches that can be thought of in this earth, because we expect from that boy and girl that they will join in the perfection of godliness, and we expect, if they reach the perfection that the Savior spoke about, that they can in time stand out in the universe and create worlds like the one that we stand upon, with all the mountains and the valleys and the seas and the wealth that are in them.

Big deal. I'm sure that BC's intellect and discernment Trump the statements of mere apostles.

Here's BC to SWK:

"CFR, Spencer. Stop listening to all those yellow journalistic DAMU followers. Your statement, based on scripture and previous prophetic pronouncements, does not meet the standards of doctrine. Proof left to the student."

See points 2 and 5.

"2. They will become gods"

"5. They will have everything that our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have—all power, glory, dominion, and knowledge"

What part of this is unclear to you?

It makes you wonder where the Mormon members get these ideas. They must just think this stuff up on their own, because obviously the church never taught it. And since these ideas have been passed on for generations and generations you would think the church leaders would have caught on earlier and issued a statement way back in the 1800s, or 1920s, or 50s or 70s, or whenever. Why wait until 2014?

Didn't the "planets" statement originate when Mitt was running for president?

http://www.mormonnewsroom.org/article/mormonism-101#C14

The PR Dept went out of it's way to ask itself questions and then provide the appropriate sounding answers. One should simply ignore what has been taught by God's own mouthpieces on earth and published in official publications....instead resort to the "it's not official doctrine".

[bcspace tinfoil hat on] Well, President Kimball used the word "worlds" not "planets." The "get your own planet" thing is an anti-Mormon lie. Never was doctrine. No change here. Just more yellow journalism from the critics. [bcspace tinfoil hat off]

There appears no end to the number of prophets President Newsroom will throw under the bus.
It is my province to teach to the Church what the doctrine is. It is your province to echo what I say or to remain silent.

Doctrine kind of comes down to the "Daily Special". Forget what was on the menu yesterday, here's what we're serving today. Forget Eastasia.
This is where BC comes in with a red herring 1984 nonreference.
