I think Tom's notoriety threatened Steve's status as cock of the walk over there, so he had to attach himself to it somehow and try to share the glory. Like he did with his grandfather.

I liked Tom and found his podcast to be fascinating, but his unhinged actions have only made all of it seem like rantings of a delusional fool. Shame.
