Testimony isn't something you have today, and you are going to have always. A testimony is fragile. It is as hard to hold as a moonbeam. It is something you have to recapture every day of your life. - Harold B. Lee
And what is the solution? The desnews suggests this little gem from James Faust:
THERE ARE FOUR ABSOLUTES ABOUT WHICH IT IS ALWAYS APPROPRIATE TO TESTIFY:
The first is that Jesus is the Christ, the Savior, the Mediator and Redeemer of the world.
The second is that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God.
The third is that all of the Presidents of the Church since Joseph Smith have been successors in that power and authority.
The fourth is that President (Thomas S. Monson) is the only prophet of God upon the earth, holding all of the keys, powers, and authorities of the Church in the earth today.
-- President James E. Faust
Basically, Jesus then "the church is true and prophets and stuff". If you say it enough times, it becomes true.
Yep, sounds right. And then right after your testimony chant you can do your "we're not a cult" chant to round out your Mormon jihadist daily prayers.
Revelation 2:17 . . give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it. Thank Google GOD for her son eBay, you can now have life eternal with laser engraving. . oh, and a seer stone and save 10% of your life's earning as a bonus. See you in Mormon man god Heaven Bitches!!. Bring on the Virgins
Odd that I don't lose faith in the belief that when I plant seeds my garden will grow. Or that the sun will rise tomorrow even if it is cloudy or raining.
I 'know' those things are true and I don't lose that knowledge of faith that it will happen.
Why is a testimony so easy to lose?
“If paying tithing means that you can’t pay for water or electricity, pay tithing. If paying tithing means that you can’t pay your rent, pay tithing. Even if paying tithing means that you don’t have enough money to feed your family, pay tithing." Ensign/2012/12
I have to wonder if a moonbeam isn't actually more concrete than an LDS testimony? A moonbeam at least can be seen by two or more, a testimony just floats about the electrical circuits of one's brain, unseen.
