From Wikipedia:
Romero was shot on 24 March 1980 while celebrating Mass, at a small chapel located in a hospital called "La Divina Providencia", one day after a sermon in which he had called on Salvadoran soldiers, as Christians, to obey God's higher order and to stop carrying out the government's repression and violations of basic human rights. As soon as he finished his sermon, Romero proceeded to the middle of the altar and at that moment he was shot.

As John Dehlin begins to prepare for his moment of truth before an unjust and repressive tribunal I hope some of those who never miss and opportunity to attack John will reflect on just how much he's given up to liberate Mormons suffering under the oppressive LDS corporate regime. What John has done is present a Mormon theology of liberation. Through non-violent means he has brought about a cultural revolution of sorts within the Church. Because of his work he now has a target on his back. But what the oppressive regime fails to understand is that John's influence will only grow stronger due to their actions.
