I think I like a singing frog better than a Cosmic Hippo; however, first I will list the original hit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Q6kG2r41lQ

And now this is how I remember the Loney Tune version from 1955 https://vimeo.com/50941741

There was a kid's show on when I was a little called Pete Boyle "Our Gang Comedies." Mr. Boyle was an older man, dressed like a cowboy, loved kids and hosted the showing of old "Our Gang" shorts. Hear Alfalfa sings one of his most famous songs. I cannot imagine public schools today would even allow pupils to listen to such a song, let alone sing it. Trees --- sung by Alfalfa https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qASzgp8RRpc

This song came out in 1950 and was a big hit running for about 14 weeks and becoming number1. I had this on a 45 RPM which my dad bought. Now I know that many of you are headed for various vacation spots. Just remember DON'T PICK UP A BOX FLOATING CLOSE TO SHORE! And here is why... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1tKZ3flZZY

"Oh Columbia the Gem of the Ocean", was once regarded as a leading contender for the anthem of the United States. Happy July 4th. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wIDXclKtGQ

Right now On Demand TV, TCM ---- through the 7/11 ---- The Music Man is being shown. The movie is the CLASSIC American Musical. In three short hours, not only does it describe the quickly changing demographics and social norms occurring in and around the turn of the century. But it also provides a glimpse at Conservatisms from a humorous standpoint not often seen when regarding liberals. To provide a glimpse from the movie (May I add that Ron Howard appears as lisping Winthrop in this Movie) We've got TROUBLE in River City Iowa :surprised: :
Let me add that Harold and Marcellus were old friends/partners. "Professor Harold Hill" asks his old friend (who has settled down in "hick town," if there is anything new in River City he might use to get the townsfolk stirred-up

Just heard a short little story that resonated because just had a disagreement with bishop and in his rage, he basically said, you're not welcome in the ward. He even put down the previous bishop when I pointed out how the previous bishop knew about my changing beliefs but still had me attend and even teach.

Back in the 1940's, in the deep south, a black man was the janitor in a church. Several times, he asked the pastor if he could worship with everyone, but each time the response was "No, I'm sorry - it just wouldn't go over well."
Finally, this black man prayed to Jesus and said, "Why don't they let me join them?"
Jesus sighed, "It's not just you. I've been trying to get in there for centuries and they won't let me in either."

This song kind of fits your story above. It is the 1951 Hit (reaching 24 on the chart) Tommy Edwards ----The Morning Side of the Mountain.

It might be considered a missed love simply because of the spot one was born, an age difference, or it might just mean missed love because of a race difference. I'll leave it to your discretion.

Original 1951 version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o633OnyFMzM

Remake reaching 27 on the chart 1959 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hk14TxxjsuQ

It is interesting to note the how the arrangement style changed with the passage of time.....

And for all you Mormons, here is the Donny and Marie Hit from 1975: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqu89BKEm6k
