FAQS looks for things to be offended by and then calls any critic of his religious doctrine a bigot. Most of the LDS members that I know are not like him. Programs about extreme groups like FLDS shouldn't cause offense to LDS members. The LDS church does shoot itself in its own foot at times, like this recent seer stone. The understanding that the Book of Mormon came from a rock in a hat isn't going to help non-LDS public think better of the LDS doctrine, but attitudes and understanding about members of the LDS faith are often separate from the doctrine and teachings. Everyone knows that polygamy is associated with Mormonism and most reasonable people also understand that members of the LDS church do not practice polygamy today. FAQS is being too sensitive if a program about an extreme group of polygamists makes him think that the LDS church is being picked on.

Your fantasy's of me are not reality, and you clearly don't know what you're talking about.
Hell on Wheels isn't displaying some "extreme group of polygamists", it portray's the actual LDS Church, Brigham Young and all.
Further debunking your claim, is I made clear I'm well aware and fine with the occasional negative, false, fiction thing with religion, even my religion, that's story telling after all. But like I said, the entire show in nearly every way is stupid concerning Mormonism and Mormons.

Anyway, stop confusing my pointing out anti-mormon bigotry and lies in relation to almost every word you utter on a daily basis about Mormons and Mormonism, with my simply pointing out vast misrepresentation on a TV show.

Anyway, read the link I gave, and see how off in neverland the show goes. It's a great read.

I did watch the series for a while but lost interest. I did think the treatment of Mormons was a bit unfair, not quite as bad but in the direction of the movie September Dawn. That was ridiculous and gratuitous. But Mormon fables like Brigham Young and Legacies are equally fictitious, never showing any depth to the conflicts or the characters. That's show biz, I guess. for what it's worth, I believe Hollywood ends up tainting and distorting just about everything it touches.

It’s a TV show. It’s going to take liberties for entertainment value.

The real Eva (Olive Oatman) wasn’t a whore. The real Thomas Durant has little in common with the Thomas Durant portrayed in the series.

Unless you are equally morally outraged that they would depict Olive Oatman as a whore, then it doesn’t make much sense to be outraged at the fictionalized liberties taken with the depiction of Mormons.

Its a terrible read and it is just a TV show. You are being too sensitive. So what if it portrays Brigham Young and the history of the church in a way you don't like? You don't seem to have a problem going off into neverland with your Book of Mormon, which does far worse to all of America's living indigenous peoples by its fantasy misrepresentation of them. You actually believe the nonsense you have been taught by your church about American Indians, lies that allegedly first appeared on a rock inside a hat. Why should a trashy TV show gets you so upset? You are simply choosing to be offended and are looking for a problem where there isn't one.

I just watched the entire series over the last week.....

So, I think I'm a little more clear on how things are misrepresented then you.
Again, I'm not afraid or sensitive at all with liberties in fiction, but again, they go WAY beyond that.

Generally with fiction, people at least try to show half accurate, half positive while showing negative or fiction of something or someone, so it looks more realistic and believable.
Again, Hell on Wheels didn't even try to get anything accurate.

Just read this article by even the Liberal/anti-mormon Salt Lake Tribune.

Clearly, I'm not as "stupid" and all up about nothing as you think.

Get over it. Its just a poorly made TV show. So what? Stop being so sensitive to things that don't show your church the way you want them to. Your Book of Mormon is far worse in slandering America's indigenous peoples.

1. So I'm "sensitive" simply because I'm addressing something over the top, while you all are not sensitive for all the things you all complain about over and over again, which are nothing more than your own fantasy's, not actual reality and actual problems?

2. And that really shows how utterly ignorant you are. The Book of Mormon doesn't slander natives at all, in fact many times over THEY are the Righteous people, not the Nephites (who by the way were also mostly natives also). At the end, the Nephites are the ones destroyed for their wickedness, while the Lamanites are the ones who lived. Further, if you actually had any sort of comprehension of the Book of Mormon, you would know that the term Lamanite in the Book of Mormon primarily refers to the Book of Mormon's version of the Bibles "Gentile". It was a social political term in most instances, NOT a particular "race" or otherwise.

Anyway, your distorted negative fantasy's of Mormonism is not actual Mormonism. We know our religion, we know our book FAR better than you, and especially as it compares with the Bible, which has near exact similar "color" theams. Wickedness and Righteousness has ALWAYS been using "color" symbolism to describe it.

Watch these videos and start to learn something. (try to ignore the cheezy, and pay attention to the good information).

Hell on Wheels’ anti-Mormonism is not just one or two ignorant references. It’s a campaign. It’s a clearly developed theme: There are repeated discussions about Mormon evilness. Bohannon frequently exchanges sad observations about how the Mormons repress and oppress women and children, and how disloyal they are, and how they fought the US government and are traitorous.

I've never heard of this show. It sounds awesome! I'm adding it to my watch list. Thanks.
