I saw this on TCM ---- lost films ---- and thought you all might enjoy it. Filmed in 1929 in an early 2 tone technicolor process, here is Tiptoe Through The Tulips from movie musical Gold Diggers of 1929. The entire movie is yet to be found and is likely gone.

LittleNipper wrote:This song kind of fits your story above. It is the 1951 Hit (reaching 24 on the chart) Tommy Edwards ----The Morning Side of the Mountain.
It might be considered a missed love simply because of the spot one was born, an age difference, or it might just mean missed love because of a race difference. I'll leave it to your discretion.

Remake reaching 27 on the chart 1959 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hk14TxxjsuQ
It is interesting to note the how the arrangement style changed with the passage of time.....
And for all you Mormons, here is the Donny and Marie Hit from 1975: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqu89BKEm6k
Thanks, Little Nipper.

I used to love Osmond's "And they call it Puppy Love" - that goes back to when I was really little.
Whenever I watch a music video or movie from back then, I kind of yearn for more innocent times, yet in the back of my mind, I know the grass was not greener - actually probably overgrown with weeds.

Let's see...
Songs that help me deal with not belonging to the cult I'm surrounded by...

Hallelujah, Canadian Tenors

This version of this song was recorded in 1945. It went back to 1934. It was a very big hit and was still routinely played on the radio well into the 1950's. It is very hard to imagine that most people today would understand the lyrics let along agree with them. However, once most people seemed to have had a general feeling of HOPE for a brighter tomorrow. Here is the BLUEBIRD of Happiness. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IERLMXtMZag

This song is from a movie about a small town band that has a hit record in 1964. Now the song never existed in 1964. And the band never existed in 1964, but they sound like they could have. And I must admit that had this band and this song happened in 1964, I like to think it would nave been a HIT in 1964! The movie came out in 1996 with Tom Hanks. The Band is called the OneDers (Wonders)
The song is called THAT THING YOU DO ----------------- also the name of the movie.
So without further ado, I present for you the Beatles ---scratch that -------- The WONDERS!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPMLG8mnCRM
I guess I should also show you when they discover that they have this hit! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpmnIpAXpig
Note the Woolworth 5 & dime in the background, the mailbox the TV sets. This movie really captured that time. Reminds me of my own hometown back then.

When I was a kid (way back in the early 1960's) there was a huge hanger located at Lakehurst, N.J., where there was housed a wonderful collection of OLD Mechanical Music Boxes and Arcade Machines (they were not considered antique yet
). At some point this immense collection was sold off. This YouTube clip will give you an idea of what I heard and saw. PS: I really love Ragtime. It's happy go luck music meant for the average person. I also understand that the Maple Leaf Rag by Scott Joplin is likely the most recorded piece of music ever composed.

This is a 1917 Victor Recording called Spooky Spooks. I like this one ----- A Halloween tune. I've seen it on several labels by different bands from the Great War Era. So it must have been rather popular or at least a fad of the day. This version is one I have and is by the Victory Military Band recorded 1917 in Camden, New Jersey: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-6z9aWQbew

Also as a Halloween scare I give you the Ghost Dance recorded on a Columbia Electric Recording from 1927. I've never heard anything quite like it ---- fascinatingly odd!

The Rockabilly song from 1959 is really the Cat's Meow! Or as the tombstone read: Don't dig me Daddy cause I'm real gone!
