Visuals of an indeterminate time at the Firestone Theater in perhaps Sparks, Nevada. Song is a bit more recent. Constant Craving...

As we get closer to Halloween, I like to introduce to you a 1923 RAG. In the 1960's and 70's ragtime became a popular phenomenon due in part to a movie called The Sting . I think this is what really introduced me to enjoying the old music machines. The old saying is that kids hate what their parents like but enjoy what their grandparents liked. Enjoy The Ghost of the Piano by Author Shutt ---- 23 Skidoo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8ApP1yxOho

In the 1960's and 70's there was a ragtime revival of sorts. There were new ragtime compositions composed. One of these is called Poltergeist:eek:by William Bolcom --- so fitting for Halloween... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGov3KG1JCE

One of my ragtime favorites is called Graceful Ghost by William Bolcom. This tune has a eerie quality that just is rather haunting........... :eek:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YufmYPb2zZE

I imagine this as a recurring memory of a missed chance at true love which is revisited but can never to be requited...

This song was rocking the charts the year I graduated high school. I believe the song poignantly reveals the time period I grew up in. Yes, we sang along with the song in the day. :ugeek: And yes, I still sing along with it now ----- though not with as much gusto.... Don McLean- American Pie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAsV5-Hv-7U

And this is Don McLean's interpretation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsZFiMo8TIc

OK! I know that Christmas is still a ways off; however, time seems to fly on by. Anyway, I have found some Christmas music that is rarely if ever played on the radio anymore. If anyone knows of some rare Christmas music please share it. I hope you enjoy this one. It was once a popular tune that has since slipped into obscurity. I wish someone would give it the airtime it rightly deserves. I fondly remember this song and everyone who has ever heard it is usually 50 or over. Enjoy ------ Here Comes Suzy Snowflake  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pI0t_tadZJU

The first time I heard this song it was played on a windup Sonora Intermezzo upright Phonograph from 1916. The record was a red Vocalion acoustic recording from the period. I have never heard this sung or played anywhere again until I discovered YouTube. This is called THE VOICE of the CHIMES ---- another long forgotten holiday tune. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhY_YNU-zX8
