- Whenever a poet or preacher, chief or wizard spouts gibberish, the human race spends centuries deciphering the message. - Umberto Eco
- To assert that the earth revolves around the sun is as erroneous as to claim that Jesus was not born of a virgin. - Cardinal Bellarmine at the trial of Galilei

Who was this "actual apologist" and why didn't Gee identify him or her?

An excellent question!

I've now watched the substance of the panel discussion video. I didn't hear a question about a hypothetical sister in Parowan (although the video did seem to end a bit abruptly).

So, the "search" doesn't work,

It does work. You just have to type "*" (without the quotation marks) at the end of every word.

It'll be interesting to see who gets appointed as Director of the Maxwell Institute. As far as predictions go.... Hmm. Tough to say. There might be further developments involving the clash between the Mopologists and the "Mormon Studies" crew. Frankly, I would be interested to see the apologists creeping out from behind the shelter of their various blogs and engaging critics more directly, but I sincerely doubt that will happen.

Are there even any "serious" Mormon Studies types at BYU who could be prevailed upon to take the job? Excluding the OMIDs, who really wants it?
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

It doesn't.

Search for "translated*" in "Topic titles only" by author "ludwigm" gives:
You must specify at least one word to search for. Each word must consist of at least 3 characters and must not contain more than 14 characters excluding wildcards.
I KNOW that there are seven of that status. I wrote them all.

Any search using "*" gives the same result, by the way.

Without the quotation marks, certainly...

I would like to see Terryl Givens do it, if they bring in someone from outside BYU.

He would have to leave his beloved Richmond for Orem and assume command over a gaggle of righteous divas. Greater love hath no man.
