Er, yes, that's more or less it, I suppose, if you want to put it that way. I think you do rather exaggerate the effect on the user experience of the search function problem, but maybe that feature is core to your approach to MDB. In that case it would be very upsetting to you, and you have my sympathy.

But of course you do realize that those who find that the interest of the board does not greatly outweigh the inconveniences to which you refer can always decide that their time might be more profitably invested in other ways. On the other hand, you seem such a nice reasonable person that I really hope you will stay around.

Well, truth be told, I don't think it's a good idea to operate on yourself, either.

Still, ya know, it's a free board, and Shades does this for nothing as far as I know (Shades can correct me if I'm wrong... or not).

I used to manage a forum for the heck of it, and even as a guy who fancy's himself half decent with a computer, there are certain things that are out of your hands when using third party software (I wasn't using php, but you get my drift). It only does so much. I'm not sure the system admin has the power to fix it; it could be crappy software.

Instead of using the search feature here, go to google.com. Type the words you're searching for, then at the end type "site:mormondiscussions.com". This way, the google search will limit its results to just those found within mormondiscussions.com.

It should be noted that this is not just a workaround; it's a superior way to do a search. You're never going to get Shades to implement a search engine backing this site like you'll get from Google.
