you claim to run this place.......
Just because I can drive a car doesn't mean I'm an auto mechanic.
are you just the puppet of some asshole behind the scenes who neither posts here nor cares about anything that happens here....????//
Other than the "asshole" part, yes.
what happens when the site breaks again???
I go back to Mav and beg him to fix it, like before.
don't you want to be able to know what the hell is going on in your own board????
I'd love to.
jeez. this just seems lazy and stupid.
It is.
the search feature doesn't work anymore.....,,,,,it used to........doesn't that tell you that it could be a symptom of a much more serious problme that will happen down the road??
No. If a software problem is going to happen, it typically happens immediately.
what will you do then, call this assmunch who has you tied around his little finger and beg for his help to run something that you refuse to understand????????????
Yes.
How about putting your money where your mouth is: Teach me how to fix the search feature and I promise I'll do it.

I'd love to.

Is that what members say?
Before my mission, I took church history in seminary and again at BYU. I gained a greater understanding during each, but the seminary one was greatly whitewashed as to what I only later learned to be backed by historical records. At BYU, the church history courses I took barely hinted and brushed on some troubling areas, and if questions were asked, the instructors veered back to the faith promoting, cleansed narrative. But not lazy. I did care to understand "my" religion.
On an LDS mission, I was restricted as to what I could read. Not lazy. I did care to understand. But was forbidden by my file priesthood leaders.
When I returned, I asked for access to special collections materials at BYU's Harold B Lee Library. When asked my purpose, I explained to find out the answers to certain questions I had. I was denied access. Not lazy. I did care to understand. But was refused access.
Upon finding those materials elsewhere--not controlled by the LDS hierarchy--and gaining the unvarnished version of certain key, troubling aspects of church history that I had only heard mentioned for the first time while on a mission, I promptly left. I was not lazy. I did care enough to understand soon after my term on a mission when forbidden ended and even persisted after denied access at BYU.
Having conversed online and off with ex-Mo's and critics for decades now, I can safely say that most here at MDB for example know loads more about the LDS religion that 95% of the active church goers.
So, informant, you and any of your LDS co-horts that think critics are lazy and don't care to understand "their" religion", you can all shove that canard up your asses and choke on it. It's obviously just another refrain about us critics to help scare you sheep into remaining in the flock.

The members of the LDS Church who say that ex-Mormons left because they did not know or understand their religion are bigots.

Wow. This thread really went downhill.

I was going to disagree with you and say that really they're just uninformed, narrow-minded, with a misplaced sense of loyalty, etc. Then I thought about it some more and realized we're not really saying anything different.

Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

For the record, I think I've gotten my money's worth from this board, and then some.
Whatever gripes, groans, complaints I might from time to time harbor against Shades over his abilites re: the configuration of this board I think I will save up until I've put the time and effort into creating my own board and keeping it up and running for a decade, for free. Then maybe I'll have something to say.

It is tragic, that the followers know so little about their nitty-gritty.
Plus, I can say the locking-up effect is more tragic.
Three different leader in Hungarian church (two women and one man) said me that since their membership, they don't read anything but scriptures - sometimes religious topic from elsewhere; conversion and miracle stories only - and I am observing the same on my wife - the fourth and most important witness about for me.
And the TV... the opiate...
- Little House on the Prairie - (203 episodes)
- Querida Enemiga - (110)
--- and such garbage. I can vomit.
Mormonism is distorting the brains; on my oath!
