Also, it's human nature to gravitate towards powerful people (think charismatic personalities) and shun and exclude victims. People behave this way even when they are good people with good intentions.
She will face a great deal of loneliness because of this. Her father forces her down a solitary road.
It will be a good day when people learn to treat victims differently, but that day is not likely soon in the coming.

An apology from Elder Mickelsen would go a long, long way in helping all concerned to move on.
Even though she did nothing wrong, it's like someone who has been raped, and now is being subjected to it again and again in the news outlets and in this case social media.
It's going to drive her into probably wanting to feel like being a hermit. She isn't the one discussing what happened to her, and she's 20 years old. If I was a 20 year old woman, I'd be wanting to develop and date, meet suitable young men to go out with and possibly marry someday. Add to that she's at college age, and just coming into her own as a debutante of a middle class LDS or former LDS family in Utah.
She is being publicly shamed whether her father intends that or not. This is a young woman who hasn't even gotten the benefit of psychotherapy. And is now being forced to relive what she went through at age six every time she reads one of these blogs. If I'd been raped or molested, and had to re-read it on social networks that my father was writing because of something he feels driven to accomplish, it wouldn't be helping me any. It would just make me feel marginalized.
He needs to treat his daughter like the princess that she is, and stop worrying about proving a point or winning an argument, or showing up a crooked apostle and his ex-wife. His daughter needs more than this right now in this moment. If I could say anything to Ron it would be to nurture his daughter and let her grow into the woman she's meant to become instead of repressing her to being the six year old and reliving the awful nightmare she lived through as a child.
It's time to be the dad because he only gets one chance to get it right where his daughter is concerned. My heart breaks for her. This social media frenzy isn't what she needs to move on with her life or heal from the scars of her childhood *and* her parents divorce.
She lost a mother. She lost her childhood. She's half an orphan already, and probably feels all alone and still struggling with the same insecurities and fears she had as a child. Because she's trapped as long as she remains the focus of all this probably unwanted attention. If it were my daughter I'd want to protect her from all that attention, not shine a spotlight on her.
I know I started out really supporting him. I just don't see how dragging this thing on and on is healthy for him or his daughter. I'm more concerned for her now because there doesn't seem to be an end in sight. There is NO CLOSURE for her. That is horrific in my opinion, and preventable and unnecessary.

Oh yes. Please.
Because it's just not a good idea to keep on putting all this stuff out there where it will come up on Google for a long, long time.

I have just about finished *The sins of Brother Curtis*, if there was any case that should have gone to court, it was that one.
What K's experience indicates is just how high up a disdain for victims and desire to protect the *good name* of the church goes.
I hate this stuff. I tried everything I could to get out of serving as a juror, including asking the judge to excuse me because I was needing to care for a sick mother (who did later pass away). The judge wouldn't excuse me, and in retrospect I am so glad he didn’t. It enabled me to see how a messy and complex case of historical child abuse is handled, both by the defence, the prosecution, and the jury.
Not talking about this stuff, does more harm than good, but this is a long thread and we do seem to be repeating ourselves.

PM Karren and send him this message.
Hopefully he will. Enough.
If he has high-functioning autism there's about a zero chance. There may be people who have been wishing he'd stop for years and years and years and...... well, you get the point. Hopefully he doesn't.

And then there's that thing about all the positive reinforcement he's getting from social media and people who think he's making a noble decision. That kind of attention tends to promote continuance of a behavior.
If he has autism, this might end if we can get everybody to ignore him. For a long time. No replies on his Facebook posts or new friend requests. We'd need to put him in about the position he's putting his daughter in. Anybody want to take that on ;)?

Why do you keep writing this. He has already stated unequivocally that his daughter wants him to do this, as do his sons. They want some kind of recognition that what Micklesen did was wrong. A small apology sincerely meant, an acknowledgement of guilt instead of blaming the victim.
How could Micklesen have handled this better. Focus on him.
