I'm picturing him fasting and kneeling down praying for JP to post something new on the Rosebud thread.
Dear me, I hope he is not that dense. Accusations like this one are a gift to the unfairly accused. They show to what lengths people will go to string up John Dehlin. That doesn't muster a lot of sympathy from all but the most devoted.
No, but when the volume of accusations is becomes high, many people automatically assume the old adage "no smoke without fire".
Which to me, could explain JD's tone in the document. He's under siege at the moment. Not wanting to put a dampener on things for you John, but I suspect it will only get worse.
(Where at any point did you express any empathy towards her?)
I am happy for her that she headed off further attention from JD if she didn't want his attention and if he was clearly up to something. I am sorry she missed out on all of that wonderful attention of being on his podcast, which surely would have been preferable to the attention she got as someone who was publicly expressing anger, disgust, and betrayal on account of the sexy-pic-liking-unliking-liking incident.
I'll answer this one.
I can only speculate, but I see two possible extremes. Either he'd have taken it well and apologized, or badly and then blocked her from all his platforms. And then any number of possibilities in between.
Too bad she'll never know. If only she had given it a try.
"I have learned with what evils tyranny infects a state. For it frustrates all the virtues, robs freedom of its lofty mood, and opens a school of fawning and terror, inasmuch as it leaves matters not to the wisdom of the laws, but to the angry whim of those who are in authority.”
Thinking on this again...what was with his whiney many page complaint about this whole event if he liked one of her photos, and that photo was nothing in the realm of sexy? I thought he was over-reacting before...now I'm thinking over-reacting is an extreme understatement.
I think he was punishing himself for wavering on the question of whether the pic was sexy. He wasn't sure at first, but he liked it to be friendly. Then he worried that she might think she was being sexy, so he unliked it. But then he felt bad because he wondered whether someone who posted a "trying to be sexy" picture would take an unliking really personally, so he reliked it.

I don't think Consig has quite a handle on it yet. I did not say the behaviour was limited to Facebook.

You've got me there. That's the thing with many accusations and lynch mobs. At a certain point they just need to vent all that righteous anger, so the truth really doesn't matter. That's why I think so highly of threads like this one.

Oh my! Well, do tell, Meadowchik. I mean, you've come this far. Surely you have permission to unload the rest of the data, right? You wouldn't be pulling a Rosebud for us like R herself or her lackey JP, would you?

Consiglieri tells us there was one photo in question and it was not sexy.
John says he liked a bunch of her photos in succession. And that she was in evening gowns and swimming suits in those photos, saying tons of people liked those photos. He was just joining in?
Others' have suggested they were sexy?
Other mis-tellings:
John says she and her friends bombarded his MS Facebook with multiple aggressive attacks.
Earlier in this thread it was said John asked women what men do, particularly in this ex-Mormon world, that is problematic, asking for specifics and she responded with the discomfort she felt by his liking her swimming trunks photo ops.
John gets smeared, slandered, defamed and threatened with death, so in order to survive, he says, he has to ban people who dare challenge him, or in this case respond appropriately to a request he offers.
I don't know what to make of this. The guy invites scrutiny then somehow the women involved are treated as somewhat crazy by he and his buddies.
And he's complaining about the Mormon Church while having set up something seemingly far less healthy than that Church. I mean...whatever dude.

So many interesting questions, stem. You make me wonder whether this is worth following at all. At so many points it looks like a tempest in a teacup.

Indeed, I still feel like there are missing facts. As always.
So RFM, do you have a topic for next week's Mormonism Live? Actually, unless there are more facts on this, it's a becoming a bit of damp squib.
I have learned a lot from this thread, or, more accurately, relearned a lot on this thread.
1. Do not become a public figure, unless you are really good at avoiding trouble.
2. Do not like your Facebook friends' sexy pics, except for consiglieri's.
3. If some guy's liking behavior on your Facebook pics creeps you out, contact him privately and tell him you are uncomfortable.
4. That said, if you are looking for attention and/or revenge, by all means raise a stink on his social media platforms so that everyone can join in the outrage.
5. If you still aren't happy with the results of your quest for revenge, there are many platforms and many helpers in the cause. Find them post haste.
6. If you don't like the unfair scrutiny that follows your accusations, ramp up the security settings on your Facebook page.
