A good Mormon book suggestion

Post by _MetalSlasher »

It's written by Alonzo Gaskill called "Odds are you're going to be exalted." It explains how everyone who has ever lived has a chance at exaltation, including those who have left the church.

Good books about Mormonism, or good books by Mormon's?

I would say both. It's written by a Mormon and it's really a good read about Mormonism and how the Plan of Salvation will work for most of God's children.

My wife is a fan of the didactic type. Me; not so much. The last two of the Wheel of Time series, and books written by Brian Sanderson are more to my liking.

More Mormon arrogance and superiority.
“When we are confronted with evidence that challenges our deeply held beliefs we are more likely to reframe the evidence than we are to alter our beliefs. We simply invent new reasons, new justifications, new explanations. Sometimes we ignore the evidence altogether.” (Mathew Syed 'Black Box Thinking')

How is it superiority when the book is about how everyone thanks to God will have a chance at exaltation? Obviously you never read the book to know what it talks about.

If memory serves, a prophet on national television said "I don't know that we teach that."

True, but I think Gordon B Hinckley was just trying to save PR, since this book explains how so many scriptures and past prophets and apostles have taught so compared to one comment on television.

How about a prophet since Hinckley? Otherwise, he's had the final word and all of that thought and literature will be dismissed as "a couplet". Or he was saying one thing to the public and another to the faithful, in which case he was a Liar for the Lord.
