For the second (third?) time in a few short days, I am very impressed by one of your posts.

Yes, I was very surprised by the result. I thought that Hillary was going to win this thing rather easily. Obviously, I was wrong. If memory serves me, the only person on this board that predicted a Trump victory was subgenius (credit given to subgenius for that)

As someone who didn't support either candidate - and now that this is all over - I hope (and pray) for heavy doses of calmness, kindness, healing and unity to sweep across the country that I live in and the country that I love.

Peace,

On an incredibly positive and heartening election result for me locally:

Countywide, unofficial results showed 56 percent of voters gave a thumbs up to Proposition A, the $90 million parks and recreation bond that would provide $59 million for 11 new projects and $31 million for upkeep and improvements to existing amenities throughout the county.

Proposition A called for a 10-year extension of a property tax the county has used to build and maintain parks and recreation projects for several decades. If approved, the average homeowner will continue paying about $18 per year toward the tax.

This is the best possible outcome, for me, that provides tangible benefits for voters where I live. The investment in outdoor recreation is a huge boon for our quality of life. I'm really excited to see some of these projects come to fruition.

Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. It will still be open season on Trump. Where are those tax returns, Mr. President, that you promised? And every single business deal of Trump, Inc. will be under a microscope. And he will have to actually work, unless he has Pence or Conway do everything. Oh yeah, the scandals are coming and the press, the press that Trump excoriated every day for a year and a half? They will be merciless. And how many women are there still out there who didn't come forward? How many tapes are going to be found? How will he handle all that? Will he sink his own Presidency by taking revenge on people who dig up the crap that's surely out there?

My Senator, Chuck Schumer... He's going to be doing a lot of filibustering I think. It will interesting how the Republicans handle that, since they have been doing it now for eight years. How long do you think Trump will last before he has a heart attack from actually having to work, or resigns from the bevy of scandals coming his way? There are still hackers out there, just as good as the Russians you know.

Yeah, just keep underestimating the repercussions, Jersey Girl. That'll work.

There it is. Pence is not a man I would want to see in the position that he now occupies.

Chap wrote:What will all those poorly-educated and economically disadvantaged white men do when after four years of Trump they find that he has not 'brought back all the miners and steel-workers' jobs' from China and India? When they see he can do nothing to stop their standard of living falling and their communities staying abandoned in the rust-belt? When, in sum, Trump fails to bring the 1950s back? Because he simply can't do any of those things - the world has changed irreversibly, and even a US President does not have the power to turn back the clock.

Who will they blame, and on whom will their inevitable rage fall? The awful thing is that the world's best hope is probably that they fall into dumb despair rather than voting for someone even worse than Trump who promises that he really, really can fix it where Trump couldn't.

There it is, part II.

Spot on.

I'll respect the office when the office is occupied by someone respectable.

Once a Drumpf, always a Drumpf. The next President is a mindless damned orangutan. “F” him and “F” everyone who voted for him.

I was shocked by the election results (very shocked to be honest). I am also shocked by many of the posts that I have been reading here at the MDB.

"“F” him and “F” everyone who voted for him."

Really?

“F” all 55 million plus American citizens?

That's a lot of damned!

Perhaps a Trump presidency will help revive the flagging US condom manufacturing sector.
