Any chance you could use the "Quote" function?

It would make reading your posts in which you quote others much clearer.

I apologize. I also changed the "ends justify the means". I had a dyslexic brain fart LOL. I'm on my mobile pad and the quote function is really weird I'm trying to figure it out but I am an electronic moron.

Don't apologize, I run into the same issue whenever I try and post from my phone. At least now I know why you are doing it.

The petition is on its way to 20,000

Jan Chamberlin posted her resignation letter to choir leaders on her Facebook page Thursday. In it, she writes that by performing at the Jan. 20 inaugural, the 360-member choir will appear to be “endorsing tyranny and facism.” She says she feels betrayed by the choir’s decision to take part.

I think an appropriate way to describe Jan Chamberlin's action would be "Standing For Something".
If only 15 old white guys in Salt Lake City had her moral integrity...

"Since 'the announcement,' I have spent several sleepless nights and days in turmoil and agony. I have reflected carefully on both sides of the issue, prayed a lot, talked with family and friends, and searched my soul," Jan Chamberlin wrote in a resignation letter to the choir president and choir members. "I've tried to tell myself that by not going to the inauguration, that I would be able to stay in choir for all the other good reasons. I've tried to tell myself that it will be all right and that I can continue in good conscience before God and man."

But she could not do it, Chamberlin said in the letter, she later posted on Facebook. "I could never look myself in the mirror again with self-respect."

The choir's participation in the inauguration would "severely damage" its "image and networking," she said, adding that many "good people throughout this land and throughout the world already do and will continue to feel betrayed. ... I know that I too feel betrayed."

For the singer, it is a moral issue, she wrote. "I only know I could never 'throw roses to Hitler.' And I certainly could never sing for him."

Chamberlin, who said she has been with the choir for five years, did not respond to interview requests and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints declined to comment on her status in the famed group or on how many others might have dropped out or complained.

In her statement, Chamberlin offered a strongly worded critique of Trump’s tactics in the presidential campaign and as he prepares to assume power, drawing a parallel with the rise of Adolf Hitler.

“In the show Wicked,” she wrote, “the Wizard makes a really interesting statement. He says, ‘I create conflict to stay in power.’

“This scenario can keep us perpetually distracted and at odds with each other and keep us from working together to solve important issues. This also allows those in office to do whatever they want to unchecked.

“I believe this has been done to us, both cunningly and intentionally. I believe we have a lot more in common than we have in difference, and if we will listen to each other, we can learn a great deal from one another.”

She added: “History is repeating itself; the same tactics are being used by Hitler (identify a problem, finding a scapegoat target to blame, and stirring up people with a combination of fanaticism, false promises, and fear, and gathering the funding).

“I plead with everyone to go back and read the books we all know on these topics and review the films produced to help us learn from these gargantuan crimes so that we will not allow them to be repeated. Evil people prosper when good people stand by and do nothing.”

Perhaps she's talking about more than just Trump...

One pro-Mormon commentator simply doesn't understand irony...

This is an attention grab, plain and simple. Most humble and honest servants of the Lord would never pull a stunt like this to garner attention for themselves. It is a shame that people feel the need to be the center of attention when they do something that sheds a poor light on the Church. I know some of you may agree with her, but if you're a member of the Church, think about this... there is a specific question in a Temple Recommend interview that inquires about sustaining General Authorities and Local Leaders. How could anyone honestly say that they are sustaining Leaders by doing something like this or agreeing with it?

Staggering lack of self awareness.

Yes. This sums up the church very well in my opinion. This. This comment says it all.

But it's not a cult.

A petition started by a lifelong Mormon and calling on the choir to bow out of the inauguration has now topped 26,000 signatures.

I wonder if there's an opinion piece coming from DesNews on the subject. It would seem fitting. (but I'm not really expecting it to happen)
