Excellent point. Ordinarily, he would have to do something horrendous like getting a blow job but at this point in time Republicans would declare that but a trifle and then seek to cut more safety net programs.

MeDotOrg wrote:While I think Donald Trump appears to have a better shot at being impeached than any other President-elect, you can't impeach a President-elect for being an obnoxious asshole. But 'High Crimes and Misdemeanors', could be construed as halting investigations into Russia's involvement in hacking and election influencing. 'High Crimes and Misdemeanors' could also include self-aggrandizement. We'll have to wait until Trump unveils his financial reorganization and whether he takes to heart the whole concept of 'blind trust'.

The Constitution does a poor job explaining what constitutes "high crimes and misdemeanors." It leaves it up to the judgement of Congress. Fortunately, we developed a strong set of governing norms around this and it has historically meant engaging in serious illegal activity and abuse of office rather than simply occurring over political disagreement. Andrew Johnson's impeachment was a close call for opening up impeachment as a means to resolve political dispute.

Trump, however, is planning on receiving a stream of payments from foreign governments while in office and this is illegal. It's already not even subtle that his business is using his presidency to profit from foreign actors. Congress could impeach him anytime they want over it.

That's what so incredible to me. He is so brazenly and openly corrupt, and much of the Republican hierarchy doesn't seem to be fazed by it. Like Sean Spicer, Trump's spokesman, they seem to have the attitude that any amount of corruption is legal, as long as it is done in the open. That's like arguing that rape or robbery is perfectly alright as long as you don't try to hide the fact that you are doing it.
No precept or claim is more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

The Emoluments Clause of Article I, Section 9. It prohibits any “Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under [the United States]” from accepting “any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.” Drumpf will be in violation the second after he is sworn into office.

I'd agree with you if I thought Drumpf was a true Republican. We've already seen how he's not afraid to disagree with his own party publicly.

He'll either reshape the party or be impeached. I don't see any alternatives, other than the GOP collapsing.

It's not collapsing. It's rebranding. And the Republicans aren't going to decapitate their lead in a rebranding year.

Please, clarify this "plan" and how it is to implemented "while in office".

It would also be edifying if you cited the laws that are/will be broken with regards to that "plan".

Thank you, in advance, for supporting your posted opinion with substance and facts.

How will he be in violation of the specifics you noted in the Emolument Clause?

The British betting house Ladbrokes is currently offering 11/10 (closing in on even) odds that Trump will resign or be impeached out of office before the end of his first term.

That's crazy to me. Also, I'm contemplating putting a hefty sum on no (8/11). Those are tasty odds.
