Here’s why there’s a niche market for fact checkers - these are from Facebook:
REMEMBER FOLKS:

If the globalists are bold enough to fake a pandemic and fake election results, they are most likely faking this vaccine as well.

Don't trust anyone.

Stockpile weapons and prepare.
They are getting a regular flu shot. The 'covid19' vaccine is actually mRNA designed to change your genetic code.
In ref to high profile types getting vaxxed on tv:
It's all staged photo ops, how dense are you? All they're getting is some saline
On and on. It’s not like the people who use Facebook have the mental capacity to engage in long-form information exchanges. Remember, if you look at the average Joe’s Facebook page you’ll see just how goddamn dim most folks are. Someone within a given platform ought to feel compelled to counter objectively false information being spread through their product. There is, in my opinion, a moral obligation to prevent outright lies and bad information gaining steam to the point it causes the body politic harm.

Wait... so there's a chance I could turn into Jessica Jones and be a super?

Sweet.

Essential that some group does our thinking for us? No thanks. That is why I left Mormonism.
Right! Your ignorance is just as good as the conclusions of people with actual expertise, or diligent fact checkers who have based their conclusions on demonstrable evidence provided by such experts. Is that your position? Your analogy with why you left Mormonism fails because so much of what LDS leaders wanted us to think and believe was not based on demonstrable evidence and reality.
No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

I’m just glad all the fact checkers regarding Mormonism came along when they did. It saved me god knows how much time in the cult.

I'm sure that is probably true of Dr. Exiled as well, whether he admits it to himself or not.

The chances of your having the ability or resources to do the research that a trained journalist fact checker does are vanishingly small - I know I certainly couldn't. Please recall that I pointed out that since those people will cite the sources they use, you can fairly easily check whether their conclusions have a sound basis. You can check out the checking, and that is much easier than starting from scratch.

Your 'think for yourself and don't use the work of trained researchers' notion is likely to mean, in effect, that you end up making decisions about 'is that politician lying to me' on the basis of little more than gut feeling. But hey, it's your life.

It's always fun to observe someone clamoring for misinformation, ignorance and BS under the guise of championing "free speech."

Yes! That is a perfect description of what most conservatives are doing nowadays - especially since the rise of Trumpism.

This statement is fine as long as the evidence these heros use to guide us to nirvana is available to fact check ourselves.

Ignoring the sneering stuff (which is usually a sign that the poster has run out of convincing arguments or evidence), I'd agree with that.

Fact checking on a professional journalism basis is never a matter of saying "X is lying, Trust me on this, I'm a fact checker.". Good fact checkers will always make it clear on what evidential basis they make their evaluations.

If they don't, ignore what they say, since it is worth no more than when Trump gives us his "It's fake news folks!" dismissals.
