But....but...the church tells me this:
A Translation of some ancient Records that have fallen into our hands from the catacombs of Egypt. The writings of Abraham while he was in Egypt, called the Book of Abraham, written by his own hand, upon papyrus.
I have a question wrote:Shulem owns the Book of Abraham. He literally owns it. *applause*
Yes he does and he has owned it for years. zerinus doesn't fully realize who he's arguing with. Fun to watch from the sidelines, I can tell you that much!
Well, thanks.
I just sent a PM to Kevin Graham telling him about this thread. I hope he joins in. By the time we are done with zerinus, he'll wish he was never born.

You, Shirts and Graham?
Poor zerinus. Poor, poor, zerinus.

You are just making silly arguments, that is all. The “Book of Abraham” that Joseph Smith translated by miraculous means may very well have carried the inscription “written by his own hand” above it, which is exactly how it was rendered into English by Joseph Smith; but that does not justify the conclusion that that statement was applicable literally to that particular Egyptian manuscript acquired by Joseph Smith—even though some early Church members may have misunderstood it that way.
Joseph Smith himself thought so and told the visitors it was Abraham's signature. So you think you know more about it than Joseph Smith? Joseph Smith is the one who said it was written by Abraham's own hand. You have to disown what Joseph Smith taught in order to save his mistake. Who has more authority on this, you or Joseph Smith? Joseph Smith literally pointed to the papyri and told Quincy "There, that is the signature of Abraham." You CANNOT ignore this. Well, you can, but I won't. It is direct evidence against your claim. And from your own prophet to boot. You called my research anti-Mormon, yet all I have done is quote and use Joseph Smith and early Mormon leaders. So are THEY anti-Mormons now also?!

Zerinus is mad because we aren't talking Book of Mormon. He could easily start his own thread. He has nothing on the Book of Abraham that exonerates Joseph Smith. ALL the evidence is against everything he says about it. And he's too ignorant to even realize that. But Shulem is giving him a Ph.d in the subject if he were just intelligent to realize what a fabulous service Shulem is trying to give him.

1. The papyrus was an original autograph -- some 4,000 years old 2. One of the mummies was a king of Egypt
Wasting time. Not interested. Have a nice day.
It wasn't a waste of time for President Joseph Smith and his associates. You're simply unwilling to join with the former saints who relished in these things. I believe Joseph Smith would be disappointed if he could hear you now.
