Who on this forum is into college football and who is your team?

My team is Alabama, which is where I went (and played for a year before my mission).

I didn't go to any colleges with a decent football program, so I root for the state team, Mizzou. I'll watch SEC games over other conferences if I have to choose on TV.

I'd be a Utah fan, but don't want to field questions on if I'm Mormon or not. I'll root for Boise State.

The Big 12 is popular here, too, so I generally pull for Oklahoma, since I have family that live near Norman and attended school there.

I've noticed over the past few years there has been this new trendy thing going on in the media and among sports fans, to brag about their conference when their team isn't winning. The SEC dominated football for so long, now it seems that whenever an SEC team loses to an unlikely victor, all the rage is about how the SEC sucks, was always overrated to begin with, and that there is a new sheriff in town. Last year it was either ACC or Big Ten, and now with the demise of FSU it seems more sports writers are talking about it being the Big Ten. Danny Kanell and Colin Cowherd are probably the more popular anti-SEC guys, and then there is Skip Bayless who thinks Nick Saban is overrated and not as good as Urban Meyer.

Another favorite of mine is to dismiss Alabama because they're in an easy conference now. I hear this all the time now: "The SEC is just Alabama and everyone else."

I've been a Stanford fan for a long time, going back to the 60's. Back then it seemed like it was always the Pac 8 (!) and the Big 10. The big 10 was epitomized by Ohio State's Woody Hayes. He backed a very conservative ground game. (I think he said there are 3 things that can happen when you throw a football, and 2 of them are bad.)

I always felt like Stanford had to win games with creativity, brains over brawn. They had some great quarterbacks, Plunkett and Elway (and a guy named Don Bunce, '72 Rose Bowl MVP, who went to my junior high and high school.)

In addition, many of the Stanford players can read without moving their lips.

PROVO — BYU running back Ula Tolutau was cited for possession or use of a controlled substance in Orem on Oct. 8, according to charging documents.

According to the summons, it is a Class B misdemeanor.

Attempts to contact the Orem City Police for further information were not immediately returned. A BYU official said the school is aware of the situation and would not say when coaches learned of it.

Tolutau is a freshman at BYU and an East High graduate. He transferred to the school upon returning from his LDS Church mission after originally committing to Wisconsin out of high school. Tolutau leads the Cougars in rushing yards this season, with 303 yards and two touchdowns.

This comes after two former BYU football players were cited for charges related to alcohol use last Saturday. Francis Bernard who was arrested in Vineyard on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving without a valid license and for investigation and for investigation of failing to register his vehicle or having an expired registration, according to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.

Also in the vehicle was Marvin Hifo, who was cited for having an open container of alcohol.

On Monday, BYU head coach Kalani Sitake confirmed that Bernard, who has been redshirting this season for personal reasons, was granted a release from his scholarship, allowing him to transfer to another school. Sitake also said Hifo, who played safety for BYU earlier this year, left the team a couple weeks ago after sustaining an injury.

Saw this on another forum. I note that Tolutau played in two games after receiving the citation for pot possession. There's no way the coaches didn't know he had received the citation.

The PAC is definitely down this year and after USC's loss I do not see a realistic path for them to land in the playoffs this year.

Who do you see getting in? Right now the Top 10 are 3 from the B1G, 2 from the SEC, 2 from the ACC, 2 from the Big 12, and Notre Dame.

Too early to tell right now. Things will change in the coming weeks. Who knows. Alabama could lose. PSU is probably going to lose. Wisconsin has no business in the top 5 based on who they play. GEorgia will probably lose and so will TCU.
