That sounds very reasonable to me. He should also agree that moderators may remove his posts should he go back on his word. Repeat offenses result in suspension.

Problem solved.

Playing a little devil advocate here. Isn't this suggestion not that far off from Mak demanding he stay of his thread? We have a pretty clear policy on everyone being allowed to participate. I understand that you are asking for this in a voluntary manner but it feels a bit more like a demand than a request.

I'm earnestly asking here because I'm not sure where I stand on the idea. In theory I like it, MG promising in order to create a hard reset of sorts but I'm uncertain if banning him from a particular posters threads is the right call. Not to mention several of the conflicts came from them butting heads on threads started by others. I'm more than willing to have my mind changed on this one.

I'd agree with this. Some people don't get a long. I don't think that means one person's at fault, nor that both are at fault. Let each other exist. If you don't want to deal with someone in particular, put him/her on ignore and go on your merry way. I would recommend to not even mention it, nor allude to that other person. I see contributions here for all of us, not for one of us, nor for some of us. MG's fine. All this negativity towards others is not helping.

I think we each mean well in our own little way.

I have just updated my ignore list. The board should go a lot faster without spam.

And this is why I didn't want to put the poster referred to earlier on ignore. I felt it best to see his posts rather than ignore them. Context is everything. Ignoring context while responding to other voices without understanding and/or 'seeing' the other person doesn't contribute towards an understanding and/or community among all participants. Even though I will/would not respond to the poster in question, at least I would know how his thoughts/contributions are adding to the overall conversation/discussion.

Otherwise, in a sense, I am running blind. And I don't see the sense in doing that. Others may.

From my vantage point I saw his behavior as troll like at times, or at least having a desire/impulse to fan the flames. But for me I didn't think it would be helpful to simply put him on ignore.

He left...and that was his decision. I would have no qualms with his returning and adding to the discussions through posting the source materials he has ready access to. I, along with others, enjoyed referencing/reading that material.

MG, if you really have an interest in Grindael returning, and you care at all about whether or not the board views you as a troll, you will do the following:

State publicly, in this thread, that if Grindael returns, you will not post in any of his threads. Period.

I've been doing that for quite a while now. Somewhere back in time when the poster in question said that he would stay off my threads I did the same for him. I went back seven pages to all of the threads that this poster started and I am not to be found in those threads. Back to Sept. 3rd. I stopped at page seven simply because I got tired of scrolling through the threads.

Earlier in this thread I've already stated...as I have many times now...that I will have no communication with the poster in question.

There wasn't anything to worry about, and there isn't anything to worry about. Folks...for a while now...have been making something out of where nothing is left. Except some ongoing hard feelings.

The 'problem' was remedied.

by the way, it doesn't bother me at all to be put on ignore. I just wish that when folks say they have done so, that they keep it that way.

Some of those same folks, if I'm not mistaken, seem to show up at times responding to my posts. How is that done if I'm on ignore?

If you're going to ignore me, then DO IT!

MG

Sounds like a plan. I'd love to have MG go down to the telestial kingdom and open a thread about the virtues of Smith's Explanations of . . . .

Then I could feast on troll meat. Wouldn't that be fun.

Right. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. God I love this board and I'm really glad MG has not been banned. Every board needs a jester.

This is a very specific case. Shades has already said the he will be history if he trolls another thread. As Jersey Girl has pointed out, the only threads he has consistently trolled are Grinadael’s. Although Mak was ticked that MG posted on his thread, I honestly don’t see where he trolled it. Obviously there are those who will disagree.

In any case, I think it would go a long way in re-establishing trust between MG and the rest of the community if he agreed to this.

This is a special case where the needs of the board are taken into consideration due to massage drama the board has suffered but would be purely a voluntary move on MG's part. It's entirely up to him and it may not even meet with Shade's approval because it sets a precedent for future cases. But considering how long MG has been a board member and the amount of drama this whole thing has caused it might just be the solution to the problem. Then everyone can move on and things will be peachy.

I was responding to Jesse Pinkman. There seemed to be a lack of understanding on the point I was making.

Right. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. God I love this board and I'm really glad MG has not been banned. Every board needs a jester.

Yes, he's a jester and a troll. He's very good at it and knows how to get under people's skin. From what I gathered he's subtle and persistent in his driveling. You'd think he'd get tired of it after all this time but he's a hungry troll and will keep eating so long as people feed him. Posters that have him on ignore often see his quote embedded in another poster's comments and that starts it all up again. I guess there are different levels of ignore and some people just can't help but look at the imbedded quotes or take a peek at what's behind the ignored quote that bears his name. I've done that a time or two.
