I'm earnestly asking here because I'm not sure where I stand on the idea. In theory I like it, MG promising in order to create a hard reset of sorts but I'm uncertain if banning him from a particular posters threads is the right call. Not to mention several of the conflicts came from them butting heads on threads started by others. I'm more than willing to have my mind changed on this one.
I don't think there is a need to ask anything from mg. First, because Dr. Shades was very, very clear:

If he makes ONE more post that suffers from the Tobin Syndrome--i.e., an on-topic post meant only to annoy, harass, or shut down free speech--then he'll be on the moderator queue immediately.

And second, because mg has already demonstrated that he can't personally keep his word. He stated emphatically his intent:

To me, not having anything to do with, INDIRECTLY, includes talking about them, but mentalgymnast has posted repeatedly in this thread alone today, many, many comments about grindael, about the situation, about grindael's decision, even his opinion on what motivated grindael's decision, and speculation on what grindael's mental state might be. He's made at least two posts commenting on grindael in the last 30 minutes alone. He is clearly incapable of maintaining any personal assurance he might give to leave grindael alone.
For that reason, I am putting all my reliance on Dr. Shades -- even ONE* post with the intent only to annoy or harass and he will be on queue. (*obviously as determined by Dr. Shades himself.)
