Establishment Republicans such as McConnell have been wanting to cut the corporate tax rate for years.

"Gavin Ekins, a research economist at the Tax Foundation in Washington, argued that it is not only the tax rate that will make the US more attractive"
That is not necessarily a good thing, we don't want to be flooded with predatory corporations from other countries.
The reason why many small businesses don't prosper is because of big corporations, not because of corporate taxes.

Experts don't believe tax cuts will make our economy grow.

Ajax - You think the government should double its defense budget. So why aren't you donating your salary to help make that happen?
I don't remember being an advocate for increasing military spending. It doesn't bother me as much since at least I'm getting some service for my money.

This liberal would be about socializing … uh, umm. … Would be about, basically, taking over, and the government running all of your companies.

Lol. Ok. I probably shouldn't clue you in on some of the over-the-top awesome training opportunities I had on the taxpayers dime driving race cars in Phoenix and rally cars in Florida. Lol, dumb crap assholes running their mouths about paying for 'defense'.

I've already read that the blue states who are hit hardest by the state tax write-off being capped are thinking about making it possible for people to make "donations" to the state to pay their taxes and still be able to write them off as charitable contributions.

You used to, including in the recent past, argue for doubling the US's military spending. It wasn't some one-time off-hand comment you made. You don't recall any of that?

I don't think that is a correct blanket statement. There's a mainstream predicted GDP growth boost between .3% and .7% of GDP in the next 2-3 years followed by a drop-off. The increased tax receipts from this aren't sufficient to cover for the cost. Not even close.
The bill was written to try and give a benefit to most people before the 2018 and 2020 elections followed by a significant hit to pay for very large breaks for wealthy business owners (i.e. GOP donors).
Overall economic performance is notoriously difficult to predict that far out, but as of right now it certainly looks like we're in for a few years of good growth. If that holds up, the plan for the GOP is to credit general growth that was going to happen anyway specifically to the tax bill. Because Republicanism is now about bottomless dishonesty in every facet of life.

You write that as if this is something to be dreaded.

Please check his post again, and pay attention to this bit:

It's the bolded part. Trump is trying to make (some) people feel good with a (for most people temporary) tax cut that may produce some growth in the short term, but which will ultimately greatly increase the deficit unless he economic equivalent of a unicorn appears.
